Welsh postcard reaches destination - after 30 yearsA postcard sent to a young girl's grandma while the sender was on holiday in North Wales has finally reached the address it was destined for, after a delay of 30 years. The postcard bears a green stamp which was unique to Wales and was posted from Nefyn, Gwynedd in 1984. This week it finally arrived in County Durham in the North East. The woman the card was sent to has sadly died since it was sent, but the woman who now lives in the house the postcard was addressed to is keen to return it to the sender.Joanne Wilkinson, 43, received the card in the post and said she would do what she could to get it back to the sender. "It was posted in 1984," she said. "It's in perfect condition and I've no idea where it has been." "Whoever wrote it must have been young when she sent it as it has several mistakes and the handwriting is quite childlike. "I imagine the woman must be in her mid-40s now." The card was written while the sender was on short cottage breaks Wales, and says spending time in North Wales in summer is "like being abroad". The young postcard-writer, whose name is Joanne, wrote: "Dear Gran, We are right at the top of the campsite with fantastic views of the bay with mountains behind it. "It's Just like being abroad and we've been to the beach, club, shops and restaurant - they are all just down the road." She signs off by telling her gran she loves her. The Royal Mail says it is looking into the reason for the letter having been lost for so long.
