With June just around the corner, we thought we'd bring you the best of what's to come over the next few weeks, perfect for those thinking of going on last minute cottage holidays. Wales has something to offer for everyone, from music to sport, and we've selected four of the more unusual and quirky events unfolding this June.
Guardian Angels of the Wales Coast (6th June)
Taking place on one of Pembrokeshire's most beautiful beaches, Freshwater West, this event, run by Keep Wales Tidy, will seek to break the Guinness World Record for the most people making sand angels simultaneously. If you're up for helping set a new world record, head on down and spread those wings, with the opportunity to also help out in a beach clean afterwards.
Allroots Yoga Festival (12th-14th June)
Held in the beautiful surroundings of the National Trust-owned Stackpole Estate in Pembrokeshire, the Allroots Yoga Festival sees a number of top teachers and practitioners of yoga and other well-being disciplines come together to deliver a programme of events designed to both relax and stimulate.
Gregynog Festival (12th-28th June)
Located in the peaceful countryside of North Powys, the area comes to life with uplifting classical music each year thanks to the Gregynog Festival, the oldest extant classical music festival in Wales. Beautiful, intimate historic locations host some truly incredible performances by some of the world's leading artists and performers, with this season's theme being the music of France.
Man vs Horse Marathon (13th June)
Held in the small Powys town of Llanwrtyd Wells, the Man vs Horse Marathon is an annual race, where runners compete against riders on horseback for victory on a 22 mile course. A yearly event since 1980, it took until 2004 before a man was finally victorious over a horse. Will the same happen this year? Why not head on down and find out?
