4 Bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 8. 2 bedrooms each with super king size beds and en-suite bathrooms with shower over bath, toilet, bidet and washbasins both on 1st floor. 1 twin en-suite with bath and hand held shower, toilet and washbasin on 2nd floor. Double on 1st floor reached via separate staircase. Travel cot.

Bedlinen and Towels provided.

Holiday cottage Llanfoist near Abergavenny, South Wales

  • A substantial house, furnished with a variety of modern and antique furniture and formerly part of the stable block of historic Llanfoist House, the ‘Carriage House’ is a perfect base from which to explore this lovely unspoilt part of the world with much to see and do withing walking distance.
  • Once housing the carriages for the occupants of the big house, including the legendary ironmaster, Crawshay Bailey, this is now a comfortable, spacious home with 2 sitting rooms and 3 en-suite bedrooms.
  • The main spacious sitting room is comfortably furnished with ample sofas and arm chairs and has a multi fuel style gas stove in the inglenook fireplace. The smaller snug like sitting room is ideal for quiet times. Put your feet up with a glass of wine and a good book.
  • Beamed ceilings carry on throughout the upstairs rooms adding to the character and charm of this lovely property.
  • Llanfoist Village at the base of Blorenge Mountain

  • Located at the base of massive Blorenge Mountain the village is an ideal place from which to walk the steep mountain footpath to see some of the best views in south Wales. The Monmouth & Brecon Canal runs just above the village at picturesque Llanfoist Wharf.
  • Abergavenny, Blorenge Mountain and Breacon Beacons National Park.

  • Situated at the foot of the Blorenge Mountain, a mecca for hang and para gliding enthusiasts, a footpath leads from behind the house to the top of the mountain - a very steep route but as a reward for reaching the top there are some of the best views in South Wales to enjoy!
  • Boat hire near Llanfoist holiday cottage near Abergavenny

  • The Monmouthshire & Brecon canal, with its pretty wharf is a few minutes walk away - hire a boat for the day or take the excellent towpath walk along the contours of the valley side with views of the Black Mountains beyond.
  • The Bear Hotel Crickhowell

  • Large and full of historic character with wood panneling, beamed ceilings, open fires and excellent food and drink in a convivial atmosphere. Book ahead to eat in the restaurant or take a chance on finding a table in the bar.
  • National Cycle Route

  • Cyclists can also use the canal towpath and the National Cycle Route on the former railway line is less than a minute’s cycle ride from the house. Fishing and pony trekking are available locally.
  • Abergavenny Market Town

  • A fascinating market town to explore. Its Castle is one of the best examples of a motte and bailey castle in Britain with the town museum set in a former hunting lodge in its grounds and the Theatre hosts a year round programme of various productions. Visit the restored 12th C Tythe Barn and Food Hall. Fascianting exhibition, tapestry and delicious Welsh food & drink.
  • Abergavenny Antique Fairs

  • Markets are held in the Market Hall on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, a Flea Market every Wednesday and antique and craft fairs throughout the year near this Abergavenny house for holidays.
  • World Famous Abergavenny Food Festival

  • The world famous food festival takes place every September and there is a fine choice of pubs and restaurants such as the legendary award winning Walnut Tree. My favourite supermarket, Waitrose is just a 10 minute walk away.

  • Monmouthshire has 1000 miles of public rights of way taking in towns and villages as well as long distance trails including Offa’s Dyke Path, and the Wye Valley and Usk Valley Walks.
  • Blaenafon World Heritage Site

  • Blaenafon World Heritage Site is 15 minutes drive away with its fascinating insight into the beginning of the Industrial revolution in South Wales.
  • Llandegfedd Reservoir

  • Llandegfedd Reservoir is an ideal venue for game fishing in 434 acres of still water stocked with rainbow trout. Permits are obtainable from the rangers office on site.
  • Offa's Dyke Path

  • The path runs for 177 miles from Sedbury Cliffs on the Severn estuary near Chepstow to Prestatyn. 70 miles follow the 8th C earthwork Offas Dyke. It is possible to join the path at various places including Brockweir.
  • Sugarloaf Vineyard

  • Visit the Sugarloaf Vineyards set in an area of outsatnding natural beauty with wonderful views. Tour some of the five acres of south facing vines, enjoy a coffee in the coffee shop, browse the gift shop, taste the wines and buy some to take home, even buy your own vine.

  • The beautiful river Usk begins high in the Brecon Beacons. It passes 3 mountains, Sugarloaf, Blorenge & Skirrid Fawr before tumbling out into a patchwork of open fields crisscrossed by country lanes and quaint villages. Perfect for quiet unhurried motoring, picnics, walking and birdwatching, with a score of riverside hamlets and country pubs.
