Holiday cottage near  Ffos Las once a retreat for Oliver Cromwell - pets welcome

  • This ancient barn, set in rolling countryside of rural charm and tranquillity, has been recently converted into a large and spacious home for holidays. 
  • Once part of an ancient historic house - the centre of a great estate in the 16th & 17th C. (One of the other barns on the farm has been dated to the 14th C). Oliver Cromwell reputedly retreated here for "rest & recuperation" (the term "holiday" was not yet in the English vocabulary) after the Civil War battles in South Pembrokeshire - still an area of rural charm and tranquility.
  • Within 0.5m walk is a small hamlet with a pub serving family bar food and an interesting ancient Church and a 20 minutes drive takes you to the coast around Carmarthen Bay, Pembrey, Laugharne and Cefn Sidan Sands
 Working Farm
  • On a working dairy and stud farm, the holiday cottage has oak floors and doors and is furnished and equipped to residential standards throughout. Pets welcome.
  • The spacious kitchen/diner has a slate floor and huge ceiling high patio doors which open onto a large terrace with rural views.
Trout Fishing on Gwendraith River
  •  Enjoy trout fishing on the River Gwendraith Fach at the bottom of the hill or watch pure-bred world class horses as they graze the surrounding fields.
Pembrey Beach & Llansteffan near country holiday home
  • Pembrey Beach is 8 miles of golden sands edged by dunes - wonderful views across Carmarthen Bay to Tenby and Gower.
  • Llansteffan on the Towy Estuary, overlooked by its 12th century castle has a long sandy beach and fabulous views across the Bay

Carmarthen Ancient Market Town 
  • Carmarthen the county town is 6 miles away - an ideal place to stock up on provisions. There are supermarkets, an excellent market full of local produce, banks, post office, book shops, chain stores, interesting independent shops selling homewares, fashions and crafts,  internet cafe, chemist, doctor, vet and filling station.
Carmarthenshire - The Garden of Wales
  • This is a little known part of Wales and is a superb mix of tranquil undulating countryside, sea shores, estuaries, woodland and fascinating unspoilt market towns and small villages. A delightful area for guests at this pet friendly holiday cottage to explore.
Ffos Las Race Course, Trimsaran
  • A first class horse racing venue between the villages of Trimsaran and Carway  (7.5m)completed in 2009 in a magnificent countryside setting.
National Garden of Wales & Aberglasney Historic Garden,  Carmarthenshire
  • National Botanic Garden of Wales (fabulous glasshouse) and Aberglasney in the Towy Valley with its restored gardens and excellent tea room are all within an easy drive.
Kidwelly Castle (CADW Historic Monument) & St Mary's Priory
  • One of the finest ruined Norman castles in Wales (reputedly haunted) and dominates the town from its steep bluff overlooking the River Gwendraeth. During the early 18th century when the tin industry was thriving the area beyond Kidwelly was known as 'Tinopolis'.
  • There is 14th century St Mary's Priory and Parish Church, an industrial museum and a delightful walk (with picnic spots) along the historic Quay and Kymer's Canal to enjoy.
  • Richard Bebb is an authority on Welsh furniture and is the author of two tombs on the subject. He specialises in the finest quality (some rare) Welsh dressers, tables, oak long case clocks, stick chairs, oak cupboards and more.

Glyn Coch Craft Centre and Woodland Walks
  • Enjoy a trip to the family run Glyn Coch Craft Centre & Woodland Walk in Pwll Trap near St Clears. Explore crafts, pottery, animals, woodland and a museum before resting with a cup of tea in the cafe. Creative courses in pottery, ceramics, glass painting and greeting card making can be arranged. There is something for children and adults.

Eynon's Butchers and Food Hall & Wales' National Swimming Pool
  • A trip to Eynon's in St Clears is well worth the effort to stock up on delicious fine quality food. This establishment has a legendery reputation withfoodiesfrom far and wide.
  • Wales' National Pool in Swansea is the only 50 metre pool in Wales. Combine your visit with a stroll along the Golden Mile along the seafront towards the Mumbles.
Walk from Amroth to Lydstep on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
  • Keen, fit walkers will enjoy this surprisingly taxing eleven and a half mile walk with continued interest along the way including woodland and magnificent coastal scenery.

4 Bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 8 plus cot on request. 1 double on ground floor (2 steps up), Freeview tv, patio doors to garden. Master double bedroom with en-suite (shower, toilet, washbasin) Freeview tv, double bedroom and twin bedroom. All on 1st floor.

Towels provided

Shower Room on ground floor (next to double bedroom) with shower cubicle, toilet, washbasin.

Bathroom on 1st floor with bath, shower in cubicle, toilet and washbasin.

Kitchen luxury fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Table and leather chairs seating 8. High chair. Patio doors at either end opening onto patio, stairs to 1st floor.

Utility Room with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher.

Lounge 2 steps down from kitchen with 2 large leather sofas, Freeview tv/dvd, cd/radio, French doors to patio.

Fuel oil central heating inclusive May to September, £25 per week outside these dates.

Grounds part enclosed with patio, table and chairs, lawn and countryside views.

Please do not smoke indoors.

N.B. There are 3 external steps with paces between them, up to the front door and 3 up to the rear door.
