About this cottage:
- A waterside home with absolutely fabulous uninterrupted panoramic views from every room and terrace overlooking the ever changing Haven Waterway.
- This ‘upside down’ home has themed nautical décor throughout with subtle shades of maritime blue.
- On the entrance level is the hall, kitchen and sitting/dining room from where patio doors open onto a small balcony with an occasional table and chairs.
- Open plan stairs lead from the hall down to the bathroom and bedrooms, both with stunning views and French doors to the terrace.
- Pembroke Dock 1/2 mile away has a range of amenities including bank, post office, library with intenet access, supermarkets, filling station, chemist, doctor and vet (in Pembroke).
- The Waterway fascinates at any time of the year – just relax and watch the comings and goings of the leisure yachts and commercial shipping – the Irish Ferry sails in twice daily.
- This is Wales’ largest estuary with numerous areas of ‘special scientific interest’.
- The water taxi travels up and down the Cleddau river from Lawrenny to Dale calling in at jetties along the route. Hop on and off to visit villages and towns along the waterway.Timetables are posted on the jetties at Lawrenny, Burton, Hobbs Point (Pembroke Dock), Neyland, Hazelbeach, Mackeral Stage (Milford Haven), Angle and Dale. Phone 01646 602 681 for further details.
- Watch and wonder (don’t forget your binoculars) at the vast array of wildfowl and waders, as the tide comes and goes.
- 2 minutes walk takes you to the old Ferry Inn – a warm welcome, good food and wine and an al-fresco eating terrace overlooking the water.
- Pembroke with its ancient town wall and mighty Norman castle is a 5 minute drive. Tudor and Georgian houses line the main street with its mixture of pubs, restaurants and shops.
- There are watersports galore, surfing, board-sailing, yachting, diving and great sea-angling – charter a boat for a mackerel fishing trip, try a ‘wreck’ fishing expedition, an exhilarating high speed sea safari to Skomer and Skokholm or a peaceful Haven cruise.
- South Pembrokeshire’s fabulous beaches and Coastal Path are all within a short drive including Manorbier, a sandy cove overlooked by a castle, Freshwater East, popular with surfers and bustling Tenby with its Blue Flag Beaches.
- After storms bass swim close to shore at Lydstep particularly on Spring tides. Beach casting is an advantage. Reward yourself with a delicious fish supper.
- Try your luck. West Atheston has a lake well stocked with tench, bream, perch and carp. Tight lines!
- Join a fascinating guided pelagic bird watching boat trip in association with Celtic Bird Tours. The boat leaves from Neyland Marina where you can enjoy a drink, snack or meal in the first floor Bar Restaurant or Brunel Cafe on the quayside.
- Enjoy a memorable holiday at this waterside home with panoramic views. Do explore the upper reaches of the Haven Waterway - few appreciate that it forms a detached part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park and that its tranquility and unspoilt charm are protected in perpetuity. It also boasts several Areas of Special Scientific Interest.
