About this cottage:
- On the side of a hill with views over the River Teifi Estuary, this is a beautifully furnished detached stone cottage in the heart of picturesque St Dogmaels
- Once home to a master mariner, the cottage interior has recently been renovated and now has wooden floors (underfloor heating on the ground floor), a cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove, a separate dining room and a luxurious hand-made wooden kitchen.
- There are wonderful walks from your doorstep and the gravelled garden, to the side of the cottage, is reached via a flight of stone steps - fabulous estuary views, gorgeous sunsets and a great spot to relax in and enjoy a ‘sundowner’ at the end of the day.
- St Dogmaels is an ancient village with the ruins of a 12th century Abbey and a working water mill at its heart.
- A local market is held in the Abbey every Tuesday and the water mill is one of a few which remain in the whole of Europe and offers a range of stone-ground flours.- watch the water wheel turn whilst enjoying delicious home made snacks.
- The Ferry Inn (2 mins walk) is an excellent pub with a garden and tables overlooking the water– great food and lovely views.
- One of the last working water mills in Wales produces a range of stoneground flours. A tour of the mill is both enjoyable and educational. The mill shop sells all of the flours and local produce. Do sample the delicious home made cakes and scones baked with the mill's own flour in the tea rooms or on the patio over looking the water wheel. The adjoining mill pond is home to a variety of water fowl which you are welcome to feed.
- Poppit Sands is a great family favourite – over ½ mile of golden sands with an RNLI Lifeboat Station and lifeguards in June & July. Backed by dunes (an SSSI) the beach has room for all sorts of activites - bathing, building sand castles, rock pooling, power kiting, buggying, land and kite boarding.
- Enjoy lovely snacks at the traditional beach café just off the beach – and nearby is the Webley Hotel which also serves food.
- The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts here and goes all the way to Amroth – 186 miles of glorious coastal scenery, sandy beaches, hidden coves and beautiful bays
- Cardigan, the vibrant county town, sits on the banks of the tidal Teifi Estuary and has a traditional high street lined with Georgian buildings, a market, theatre and lots of eating places, little alleyways and shops to browse.
- Freshly cooked fish and chips to take away or eat in the cosy licenced cafe with a glass of wine.
- For a fascinating glimpse of the past visit this reconstructed iron age fort dating to 600BC. Roundhouses and other structures have been built on the exact locations of the original buildings. The fort is the focus of an archiological excavation in a beautuiful woodland setting.
- Stroll through the changing exhibitions of quality work by established national and international artists and crafts people and enjoy refreshments in Cafe Celf. Look out for scheduled musical recitals to be enjoyed over a deliciouis supper.
- The stunning award winning wood and glass centre is located in the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. Interactive cameras focused on the marshes give an insight into what to expect when out on one of the four nature trails.
- A delightful family day out - see magnificent shire horses being dressed in their special occasion finery and watch them being workerd by a Welsh champion ploughman. Enjoy tractor & trailor tours and lots more indoor and outdoor activities. A delight for children of all ages.
- Enjoy a relaxing memorable holiday at any time of the year in this lovely cottage with estuary views.
