About Mr & Mrs Jones' Apartment

  • A charming little self-contained apartment just for two, attached to but independent of Big House ref 1301, (your pet dog is welcome too) available November to March (excluding Christmas & New Year).  The apartment has sublime views across the Dwyryd Estuary towards Tremadoc Bay with glimpses of Portmeirion on the wooded headland.
Huge folding patio doors maximize the enjoyment of spectacular views and breathtaking winter sunsets. Relax in the stylish rustic open plan ground floor with its large inglenook and wood burning stove - flickering  firelight, snug, cosy and comfortable with a glass of wine to unwind after a bracing beach walk in crisp winter sunshine.
The pretty double en suite bedroom is on the first floor and the whole apartment is charmingly furnished with great attention to detail.
The large lawned garden is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs with a stylish front patio area  - enjoy the moonlight with only the sound of owls hooting to disturb the silence!
  • Walk from the apartment- 5 mins - down to the North Wales Coastal Path or up to the Ardudwy Way mountain footpath (an old drover's road). The train station is a short walk away.
  • Walk or drive up to Llandecwyn and explore this beautiful wooded area sprinkled with lakes.  There are also enchanting walks through this ancient Welsh rainforest in the lovely Maentwrog Valley at Tanybwlch.  This area is a National Nature Reserve and home to a vast array of bird life - redstart, wood warbler, nuthatch and many more.
  • Another easy walk takes you to Llandecwyn Station on the Cambrian Coast Railway line which links to the Ffestiuniog & Welsh Highland Railways at Porthmadog.
  •  Harlech’s long sandy beach, possibly one of the finest beaches on the Welsh coast, is never crowded and close by is Llandanwg with a N.T. field behind the sand dunes which shelter a 12th Century church.  This is open throughout August to visitors, there is a flower festival in July and services one Sunday a month throughout the year.

  • A favourite haunt of the Duke of Windsor, this Italianate folly is set on a beautiful headland and blends beautifully into its environment – it has a magical appeal in its uniqueness.  Stroll the grounds and enjoy the pretty shops and walks behind the village or dine/lunch in the sumptuous hotel.

  • Dominated by Edward I’s mighty fortress,  this is a small thriving village with a superb ice cream shop close to the castle. The Blue Lion courtyard is home to Freya’s lovely café serving scrumptious snacks throughout the day -  try their delicious scones probably the best in Harlech - or dine in The Plas Café a Harlech institution eat out on the terrace and watch the sunset over the castle.
  • For something exotic try the newly opened Soul Food Restaurant for a taste of Carribean cookery!   For special occasions and superb food there is The Castle Cottage -  booking advisable.

 Royal St. David’s Golf Club

  • This is  well known throughout the golfing world  - considered to be the 38th best course in the world outside the U.S. it gained its ‘royal’ status when the Duke of Windsor played here in the 1930s  when he was Prince of Wales - a challenging course but a ‘must’ for any serious golfer.
