Pantglas Leisure Club & Llandeilo
  • Once the gate house to the former grand mansion of Pant Glas, North Lodge is a charming early Victorian lodge set by the side of, but completely separate from, Pantglas Leisure Club, where there are 28 Scandinavian style lodges scattered amongst 44 acres of undulating mature woodland with its own lake.
  • Please note, dogs are not allowed in Pantglas Leisure Club grounds.
  • Llandeilo 7 miles away is an excellent shopping venue with individually owned interesting shops, bars, restaurants & cafes, banks, supermarket, post office, internet cafe, doctor, chemist, vet, filling station, weekly Friday markets indoor and out selling excellent local produce, monthly antiques fairs & auctions and much more.

Carmarthenshire - Twyi & Cothi Valleys
  • Wonderful walking, cycling and fishing country - the pretty River Cothi nearby is world famous for its salmon and sewin.
  • Discover a timeless world in the lush, magical Tywi and Cothi Valleys, wooded hillsides, gentle rolling hills and dramatic ruined castles perched on high peaks - my favourite romantic ruin is breathtaking Carreg Cennan, a place like no other, but there is also Dinefwr and Dryslwyn, Laugharne, Llansteffan, Kidwelly, all waiting to be discovered.

Aberglasney, National Botanical Garden & Dolaucothi Mines NT
  • Do visit Aberglasney (‘ A Garden Lost in Time’ ) and the National Botanical Garden of Wales and explore the unchanging market towns of the Tywi Valley - Carmarthen, Llandeilo, Llandovery or follow in the footsteps of the Romans and pan for gold at Dolaucouthi Mines (N.T.) all within easy, scenic driving of the heated indoor swimming pool and leisure amenities which are a short walk away from North Lodge - holiday cottage with free leisure facilities and heated indoor pool.

Newton House National Trust, Llandeilo & Black Mountain Gallery, Cwmllynfell
  • 17th C Newton House, Llandeilo stands in 800 acres of magnificent parkland. It was once the medieval court of the Welsh prince Lord Rhys. Now decorated in Edwardian style with wonderful views from the imposing rooms
  • The Black Mountain Gallery shows the work of British contemporary artists Murial and Mark Williams, mother and son. Both work across a broad spectrum of artistic techniques from sculpture to ceramics to welding but they are best known for their amazing paintings.

Fishing at Springwater Lakes & Walk Dinas RSPB Reserve
  • Try your luck at fishing. Coarse Fishing Spriingwater Lakes is a picturesque angling complex comprising 4 lakes at Harford between Llandovery and Llandeilo.
  • Dinas RSPB Reserve has a pleasant 2 hour circular walk with some steep and difficult parts but well worth the effort.

Pembrey Beach a short drive from holiday cottage with swimming pool and dry ski slope
  • An eight mile stretch of sand edged by a belt of sand dunes along its entire length perfect for walking, beach combing or just soaking up the sun.

Ginst Point, Pendine
  • Ginst Point is used for weapons testing and so access is limited. Weekends are usually free. Phone ahead to avoid disappointment 01944 452310. The largest concentration of birds can be seen on a sand pit at the point. Extensive scrub attracts finches and other passerines and the inland areas attract large flocks of golden plover and lapwings.

National Mud Festival Wales, Llanelli
  • The National Mud Festival of Wales held in the Wetlands Centre is an annual family event to show the vital role of mud in the ecology of wetlands. Activities, demonstrations and displays including build a mud hut competition, mud safaris, mud of war contests and more.

The Red Kite Cafe, Gift Shop & Feeding Centre, Llanddeusant
