About this cottage:
- Wake to fabulous panoramic views of the constantly changing waters and sweeping skies of the Taf Estuary and listen to the call of curlews from this lovely, comfortable and warm family home.
- In possibly the finest location in Laugharne, overlooking the sparkling waters of Carmarthen Bay, The Cottage has an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture, intriguing nautical memorabilia, old maritime charts and original art work.
- Delight in the wonderful variety of birds in the pretty garden, relax in the conservatory and as the sun goes down over this ‘heron-priested shore’ perhaps like the great poet himself think that ‘some, like myself, just came one day, for the day, and never left’ (Dylan Thomas’ ‘Quite early one morning’).
- Laugharne, an ancient borough, once home to pirates and smugglers, is now a pretty seaside village dominated by its Norman Castle overlooking the estuary.
- There is a bakery, pottery, small shops, pubs, a fascinating book shop and antique shop.
- Excellent eating places serving local Welsh produce include The Cors restaurant, Owl & Pussy Cat Tea Rooms and Castle View fish & chip shop, all within strolling distance.
- ‘Seaview’– opposite The Cottage, was once home to Dylan Thomas and is now a fabulous restaurant which will delight foodies with the highest gastronomic cuisine.
- Lots of activities locally including horse riding, and game and sea fishing – individual boat trips, including a '3 Castle Cruise' can be organised locally - (just ask for Denzil) and fascinating guided 'Dylan Thomas' walks accompanied by a local historian.
- Great destinations for days out within a short drive include miles of golden sands at Pendine, the popular family resort of Saundersfoot and Victorian Tenby.
- Nearby attractions for all the family include Anna Ryder Richardson’s Wild Welsh Zoo, Folly Farm (for children of all ages), Oakwood Theme Park and true chocolate lovers shouldn’t miss Pemberton’s Chocolate Farm.
- The tranquil, lush Towy and Cothi River Valleys, National Botanical Garden of Wales, Aberglasney (A Garden Lost in Time) and the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside, dotted with romantic ruined castles and a dozen sleepy market towns are within an easy drive of this holiday home with fabulous panoramic views.
