  • Reached along a single track lane (1m) with passing places the house is backed by woodlands, teeming with wildlife - bats, red kites, herons and buzzards - a walkers and nature lovers paradise .
  • Close to the vibrant market town of Llanidloes with its bistros and individual shops this is a delightful year round base for those seeking to explore the picturesque landscapes, market towns and villages of beautiful mid Wales.
  • At the heart of the ancient medieval kingdom of Arwystli,  Llanidloes is the first town on the River Severn. Today, Arwystli includes many of the most beautiful towns and villages in Mid Wales; -  Llandinam, Trefeglwys, Caersws, Carno, Llangurig and beyond.
  • Wander around this ancient town and explore independent shops selling a wide range of goods  -  vintage clothing, walking boots, toys, old and new books, fair-trade food, furniture and take a break for something to eat and drink - there is a range of  pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and tea rooms to choose from..
  • There is heritage here too - with a recently redeveloped museum, the Old Market Hall has been restored and there is an important and fascinating collection of Welsh Heritage Quilts in the  Minerva Arts Centre.

St Idloes Golf Course, Llanidloes

  • Enjoy a round or two on this nine hole course (visitors very welcome) set in undulating parkland bordered by mature trees -  magnificent views of the Severn Valley and the Radnor hills to the east, the bulk of the Fan Hill to the west and Plynlimmon and the Cambrian Mountains some ten miles away.

 Hafren Forest, Source of the River Severn Trail

  • Walk to the source of the River Severn - or choose from a number of different circular trails along the Severn through towering pine & spruce trees -  buzzards, goshawks and red kites can often be seen overhead. Merlin and sparrowhawks inhabit the edges of the forest and you may catch a blue flash of jays deeper in the woodland. 
  • Numerous streams abound with dippers, frogs, toads and freshwater fish  -  the River Severn and its tributaries are home to the spawning grounds of migratory salmon. Mosses and grasses thrive on the banks of the streams, with tormentil, marsh violets and bog asphodel raising their heads in the summer months - forestry tracks and roads are also excellent terrain for the cyclist
LLyn Clywedog
  • A spectacular reservoir with majestic views sits high above the small town of Llanidloes amongst the Cambrian Mountains -  a  72m high dam holds back 50,000 megalitres of water
  • There is rare wildlife to spot and budding explorers will delight in investigating the enchanting woodlands and clear mountain streams.  Take a picnic and enjoy an alfresco snack surrounded by beautiful scenery - there are lots of activities here too cycling, fishing and sailing.   
Clywedog Sailing Club
  • Bring your own boat or why not learn to sail -  there is a wide range of training for sailors of all abilities - no matter how old or young, if you have never sailed before or how able-bodied you are - something for everyone!

Red Kite Feeding
  • Visit the nearby red kite feeding stations at Gigrin, Rhayader or Bwlch Nant yr Arian - an unforgettable experience 

Powis Castle Gardens (N.T.)
  • These magnificent gardens are open all year round - an attraction for all to enjoy - withguided tours  around the beautiful castle (still lived in by the owners) and  a fascinating museum dedicated to Clive of India - enjoy refreshments in the excellent tea rooms and perhaps buy a plant as a souvenir.
Devils Bridge Falls
  • Drive the exciting mountain road from Llangurig to the coast at Aberystwyth via the world famous Devils Bridge waterfalls and walk the 2 trails - The Waterfalls & Punchbowl (10 mins) or the Falls Nature Trail (45 mins) to the Rheidol Gorge to view them in all their splendour.
  • This seaside town is home to the University of Wales - lots of shops, restaurants, pubs and a splendid promenade to enjoy.
  • Extended families or friends sharing can enjoy delightful year round holidays in this spacious Mid Wales  family friendly country getaway that has wifi sleeps 10 and welcomes dogs.
