About this cottage:
- A lovingly renovated traditional Pembrokeshire stone house in the heart of the small village of Trefin.
- With slate floors, white-washed walls, beamed ceilings and a log effect gas stove this is a well furnished, comfortable home for a holiday at any time of the year.
- The small, sheltered, private and enclosed rear garden is ideal for relaxing in or enjoying an al-fresco meal.
- Square & Compass 1 mile away has an excellent village shop, off licence & filling station selling fresh goods, groceries, local produce, newspapers and gifts.
- Trefin has a pub – The Ship Inn – serving bar meals.
- The Coastal Path can be joined at Aberfelin – splendid coastal scenery in both directions – east to the small harbour of Abercastle and westwards to Porthgain, once home to a thriving quarry industry, with the famous Sloop Inn and award winning ‘Shed’ Bistro . The St Davids Peninsula has over a dozen beaches to explore.
- Pauline Beynon’s paintings, ceramics and the work of guest artists including Tim Cotterill’s fabulous bronze frogs.
- (6 mins walk) A pretty shingle cove with rock pools overlooked by the remains of Melin Trefin Mill – the inspiration for the famous poem by the Welsh Archdruid Crwys.
- The popular Strumble Shuttle Coastal Bus Service from Newport to St Davids stops in Trefin 3 times a day between May & September and twice daily on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from September to May – so give the car a holiday too whilst enjoying staying in this Pembrokeshire house for holidays in Trefin.
- A challenging 9 hole course in Castlemorris set in mature parkland with panoramic views. After your game drive on to Letterston and enjoy a meal at the award winning licensed fish & chips restaurant 'Something's Cooking'.
- Solva is a picturesque village and quay alongside a fiord like estuary with a handful of interesting shops, a gallery, a pottery and a choice of places to eat and drink. Solva Woollen Mill is located just ouside the village and was visited by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Do take a walk out to the headland to enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery.
- Try your luck at this mixed fishery with sea trout (known locally as sewin) from May to early September and brown trout most of the year round. Tight lines!
- Catch mackeral on float tackle, sharks sometimes follow also congers, huss, pollack and wrasse. Remember to pack your favourite seafood recipes.
- When in Fishguard drop in to the Town Hall where the 100' Last Invasion Tapestry is on display. It commemorates the last invasion of Britain which took place close by. The French were repelled by local women in Welsh costume mistaken for soldiers in uniform.
- Enjoy strolling around 3 acres of landscaped garden including a fast flowing stream set high in the beautiful Gwaun Valley. Every summer Denys Short opens his sculpture garden for public viewing. The sculptural structures blend and contrast with the environment in all sorts of subtle and delighjtful ways.
- There is much to enjoy near this Pembrokeshire coastal cottage for holidays.
