Poppit, Gwbert on Sea and Teifi Valley
On the mouth of the Teifi Valley between the Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire coast. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path (over 180 miles long) commences at Poppit Sands with Gwbert on Sea on the opposite side of the estuary.
Follow the river from Cardigan towards the Cambrian Mountains and explore half a dozen small market towns and many small villages. These include Llechryd, Cenarth, Newcastle Emlyn, Felindre Drefach (do visit the museum to the Welsh Woolen industry), LLandysyl and Tregaron.
At the headwaters of the river Teifi you have a region known locally as the ‘Mountains of the Moon’ located at the Teifi Lakes above Tregaron – a most remote, desolate and spectacular mountain scenery, rarely visited by anyone other than some local fishermen.
