Harlech holiday home on the clifftop overlooking the beach & Royal St Davids Golf Course
  • With fabulous sweeping views overlooking the beach & Royal St Davids Golf Course this unique house was built in 1904 by an army Colonel who had spent time in South Africa during the Boer War and its design reflects the architecture of the Boers with Dutch gables and a red tiled roof.
  • The interior is reminiscent of the sumptuousness of the Edwardian period with a wealth of antique furniture balanced by stylish fabrics in curtains, bedding and walls covered in the owner's and her family's art work.
  • The stylish and distinctive bedrooms all have French windows leading out onto the balcony, guests will be captivated by the magnificent bay, particularly in the early mornings and the evening sunsets.
  • A ground floor self-contained studio apartment has a double bedroom with sitting area, shower room and small kitchen.
8 acres of grounds
  • There are some 8 acres of grounds to enjoy, the garden is under restoration and garden enthusiasts may find this of particular interest - a perfect garden in which to relax either by dining al fresco on the terrace or sitting out on the decking area and lawns.
  • Children and adults alike will love to wander and discover secret little lawns and footpaths and there is a bowling green which guests are encouraged to use and a childrens play area.
  • This is also a working garden with orchards, vegetable garden and beehives.
  • There is private access down towards the beach (plenty of steps but well worth it).
Harlech Beach & Town
  • Harlech beach is very special - the wide expanse of sand is never crowded even in high summer and the views of the Peninsula and Snowdon are spectacular. The historic town dominated by its magnificent castle has a good range of local amenities including independent shops, Spar, banks, post office, internet cafe, chemist, health centre and filling station.
The Royal St. David’s Golf Course
  • One of Wales’ s finest courses situated behind sand dunes with the great solid mass of Edward 1st mighty castle beyond - a truly unique location.
Harlech Snowdonia and North Wales
  • There are many beautiful valleys, mountains and lakes in the hinterland. An example is Cwm Bychan with its mysterious lake, feral goats, meandering river and ancient woodlands. It has a timeless quality hard to find in modern Britain.
Portmeirion & Ffestiniog Railway
  • A short drive away is Portmeirion designed by Sir Clough-Williams Ellis, the Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway and the whole of Snowdonia to explore. Nearby is Theatr Ardudwy a modern theatre which offers a varied programme of plays, music, dance and the latest films. The foyer and bar area often exhibit paintings or photographic work, a pleasant way to browse with pre theatre drinks!
Occasional meals & housekeeping offered at this Harlech holiday home
  • The owners, who live at the back of the property, are prepared to cook the occasional dinner should guests require it and to offer a certain amount of housekeeping services. They can also help arrange various activities such as mountain bike hire, book tee off time, find active adventure packages, provide local maps and arrange walks of particular interests, including conducted local garden tours.
Welsh Highland Railway & The Lion Hotel
  • The Welsh Highland Railway runs along a spectacularly scenic route from Caernarfon to the flanks of Snowdon climbing over 650' before zigzagging dramatically to the village of Beddgelert and the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass.
  • The Lion Hotel at Criccieth uses freshly prepared local produce to create a delicious menu and has an extensive wine list all served in the elegant 'Pink Restaurant'
Precipice Walk & Abermawr
  • The 3 mile precipice walk is suitable for families. It takes about one and a half hours and offers stunning views of the Mawddach estaury and Snowdonia.
