The cottage near Harlech
Holiday cottage within walking distance of a beach. A traditional Welsh farm cottage, recently restored, within walking distance of the golden sands stretching from Shell Island to Barmouth. There are stone flagged floors throughout the ground floor with underfloor heating, and the spacious sitting room has a large inglenook stacked with logs for the wood burning stove - low beams, thick stone walls and tiny windows - cool in summer and cosy in winter. The two romantic little bedrooms are prettily furnished and outside the cottage the country garden has colourful borders and garden furniture, ideal for barbecues or just relaxing.

Beautiful beaches abound in this part of Wales - the intimate little beach at Llandanwg with its ancient church tucked away in the sand dunes is nearby and for bird lovers a walk along the estuary with its seasonal influxes of migrant birds and resident family of swans is a special treat. Talybont Beach (2m) has a large car park and a short walk across sand dunes, small inlets and lagoons leads to a wide expanse of sand. Children will love the Animal Farm near the cottage with Floss the donkey and her friends and older children will enjoy exploring the slate caverns - Sean Connery and Richard Gere made a film about King Arthur here a few years ago. Explore the countryside away from the coast, dotted with Neolithic remains, Iron and Bronze Age Settlements - peaceful walks enjoying spectacular views towards the mountains and over the sweep of the wave lapped bay and for cycling enthusiasts there is a newly opened cycle route to try. Portmeirion, the Italianate style village near Porthmadog, is very beautiful, and with a little imagination one could be on the Italian Riviera - interesting little shops, cafes and the famous Portmeirion Hotel along with pretty wooded walks and fine gardens and do visit the Lleyn Peninsula with its numerous coves and harbours - lots to see and do close to this holiday cottage within walking distance of a beach.
