House overlooking Harlech Beach and Royal St David's Golf Course
- A magnificent modern property with a totally captivating, panoramic view across Royal St David's Golf Course (concessionary golf rates for guests) and sand dunes from Snowdonia, across the Lleyn Peninsula and the Bay to Shell Island and Llandanwg beyond.
- Because there is an exceptionally steep gradient from the lower car park, guests will need to be very fit to walk the 40 metres uphill along the gravelled garden path to the house entrance. Competent drivers, who are not intimidated by a very steep concrete driveway may wish to use this as an alternative approach down to the house.
- Newly renovated and furnished to the highest standards throughout there are 2 balconies on the 1st floor and 3 of the ground floor en-suite bedrooms have French doors opening onto the lower balcony to ensure guests can fully enjoy the truly spectacular scenery.
- The 1st floor is open plan with kitchen, dining and living areas and large bespoke oak folding doors open out on to a 2nd balcony - perfect for al fresco meals.
Harlech
- The superb wide sweep of Harlech Beach is one of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches in Britain with miles of golden sands.
Harlech Castle
- Dominated by Edward 1’s huge castle, Harlech has an excellent modern theatre a short walk away which shows the latest films as well as touring drama and dance productions - excellent food at the Castle Cottage and Plas Café.
Walking Cwm Nantcol and Cwm Bychan
- Inland from Harlech there is splendid walking country with 2 lovely valleys, Cwm Nantcol and Cwm Bychan. Enjoy the waterfall walk or the mysterious Roman Steps and look out for the feral goats that roam the high ridges.
The Fairbourne Railway & Llanstumdwy
- Pay once and ride all day on this 1895 railway from Fairbourne to Barmouth
- Llanstumdwy is a picturesque village with a river running through it. Once the boyhood home of Lloyd George the great Statesman now a museum dedicated to his life and work. Do call in at Tafarn Plu opposite for a Welsh ale and or some home cooked food.
Ffestiniog Railway & Beaches
- The Ffestiniog Railway and Welsh Highland Railway leave from either end of Porthmadog. Choose a scenic Snowdonia heritage journey or a mountain trip to Blaenau Ffestiniog where you could visit the fascinating Slate Caverns.
- Harlech, Llanaber, Criccieth, Abermawr, Dinas Dinlle (NT), Black Rock and Dyffryn Ardudwy. A beach for every day of the week and there are more within easy reach of this holiday cottage.
Castle Cottage Restaurant, Dolmellyn Garden & Eisteddfa fishery
- A reccomended restaurant in Harlech with a reputation for good food.
- Dolmelynllyn Garden at Ganllwyd has a park, lake, woodland, formal garden, kitchen garden walk and a 16th C house now a hotel where morning coffee is served and occasionally lunches.
- Eisteddfa Fishery offers game and coarse fishing for all the family on 5 lakes stocked with carp and trout. Tackle is on sale at the site.
