  • Cwm yr Eglwys sheltered sandy cove is a short downhill walk from this ‘Hansel & Gretel’ log cabin set in a tranquil woodland glade.
  • A narrow 150 yd footpath leads you to the cabin where the only sounds are the rustling of leaves in the trees and the chorus of wild bird song.
  • The large decked balcony on 2 sides overlooks a lawn, woodlands and a small marsh - a botanists, birdwatchers and naturalist’s paradise.

  • Cwm yr Eglwys
  • Cwm yr Eglwys has its very own microclimate, renowned for being a few degrees hotter and drier compared to other parts of the Pembrokeshire coast. The bathing is safe and there is a slipway for launching small boats.
  • A stream runs through the middle of the beach and there are lots of rock pools – clamber over the rocks at the west end of the beach to discover a secret ‘low tide’ beach.

  • St Brynach Church & Cwm yr Eglwys Boat Club
  • The cove is overlooked by the belfry, west wall and part of the graveyard of the 12th century church of St Brynach – the rest was destroyed by the Royal Charter Storm of 1859.
  • The Cwm yr Eglwys Boat Club reunites in the first 2 weeks in August and holds sailing events, swimming and rowing races, sandcastle competitions and much more besides.

  • Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
  • Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and take the valley walk to the pretty sandy bay of Pwllgwaelod and the newly refurbished Sailors Safety Inn – excellent local sea food and fabulous romantic sunsets!

  • Dinas Cross, Newport & Fishguard
  • Dinas Cross is a small inland village with a shop, 2 pubs – the Freemasons Arms and the Ship Aground, a small mini-market, fish and chip shop and a garage.
  • Newport with its excellent restaurants, pubs and individual shops and the small market town of Fishguard are both within an easy drive – an excellent Farmers Market is held here weekly during the summer months and fortnightly during the rest of the year.

  • Newport Golf Club
  • Newport has two fabulous beaches and an18 hole links golf course and a daily ferry service sails to Ireland from Goodwick near Fishguard.

  • Rock Fishing Ceibwr Cove & Bird Watching at Newport Bay
  • The rocks on the southern side of Ceibwr Cove are excellent for float fishing and spinning. Try your luck.
  • The river Nevern enters the sea at Newport making a small sandy estuary ideal for bird watching.

  • Old Sailors Inn (formerly Sailors Safety),Pwllgwaelod
  • Do visit this 500 year old inn overlooking Pwllgwaelod beach serving real ales and good food. Sea food and shell fish are a speciality. Eat in the small dining room (book to avoid disappointment) overlooking the garden and beach or in the large garden just a few yards from the beach. The coastal path around Dinas Island with magnificent coastal views can be joined here.

    Grounds unfenced lawn edged with steep banks. Barbecue table.
    nb great care with small children please, both the balcony and garden/lawn are unfenced and are not either childproof or dogproof.
    Parking for 1 car in car park 5 mins walk away.
    Bring suitcases that can be carried along the footpath, ‘wellies’ and (if arriving after dark) a torch are essential!
    Also please bring slippers for indoor wear.
