Breathtaking views of Snowdonia from the little village of Borth y Gest which encircles a quiet harbour - good quayside café for snacks and excellent lunches and dinners at Blossoms Restaurant. Pretty intimate little coves, all with views across the Glaslyn Estuary to Harlech Castle are just 400 yds beyond the harbour and peaceful wooded walks surround the village. Porthmadog and the Ffestiniog Mountain RailwayPorthmadog, once a great seaport, is now a bustling small town with a variety of small locally owned shops and is a paradise for steam train buffs with 2 narrow gauge railways - the Ffestiniog Mountain Railway (which has a spectacular walkway running alongside on the ‘ Cob’ embankment) and the Welsh Highland Railway. The Glaslyn Estuary to the north of Porthmadog is a bird watchers paradise and home to many species of birds. Scenic villages of Portmeirion and BeddgelertPortmeirion, the famous Italianate village, and Beddgelert, a pretty village at the foot of Snowdon, with a spectacular riverside walk through a dramatic gorge, are both within a short drive. Osprey viewing platform.Ospreys have started nesting lower down the valley where the Glaslyn River widens and a viewing platform has been provided by the RSPB - a very popular and special place to visit within an easy drive of this Welsh holiday home.
