Cottage nr Harlech
  • Enjoy breathtaking sweeping panoramic views - perhaps the finest in Britain - from this delightful small remote cottage in a tranquil location perched high above Harlech.
  • Look straight across to the Italian style village of Portmeirion on its headland between two beautiful estuaries, the arm of the Lleyn Peninsula as it reaches out to the left with Cricieth Castle, Black Rock Sands and Borthygest in the distance and to the right the Snowdon Massif with the high point of Snowdon itself at its centre.
  • Set in the grounds of 'Erw Wen' an ancient farmhouse, whose renovation received an excellence award from The Snowdonia National Park, the cottage has been recently renovated and has a compact open plan sitting/dining room and interesting antique furniture which includes a 17th Century French cupboard.
  • There is a small side patio area for eating out or just to watch the ever changing light and breathtaking sunsets in total tranquility.
  • Walk from the cottage along small oak canopied lanes to lovely lakes, meandering rivers or rough grass heath lands dotted with the remains of pre-historic sites
Harlech & Coastal Path
  • The sublime beach at Harlech is a short drive away - a wide sweeping bay of golden sand never gets crowded with the great Harlech Castle in the sand dunes behind with the small town clustering around the huge raw fortress.
  • Be sure to treat yourself to delicious ice cream at the ice cream parlour close to the Castle or have a light lunch in the Blue Lion Courtyard. Opposite is The Plas café - enjoy drinks and dinner on the terrace overlooking the Castle and for special occasions book The Castle Cottage whose chef is considered one of North Wales's best.
  • The Coastal Path can also be joined at Harlech - breathtaking views in every direction!
  • Clough Williams Ellis's spectacular Italianate village is set on a headland between two beautiful river estuaries - The Dwyryd and The Glaslyn, which spill out onto Tremadoc Bay.
  • Visit early or late in the day to catch the light illuminating the stunning architecture or enjoy supper at the lovely hotel on a warm summer's eveing - a magical experience.
Llandanwg, Shell Island , Black Rock Sands & Borth y Gest
  • This small intimate beach has a 13th Century church tucked in the sand dunes - well worth visiting and has a flower festival in July and is open throughout August as well as regular services one Sunday a month throughout the year in a lovely candle lit atmosphere.
  • Shell Island Beach also has miles of un crowded expanse of sand as has Black Rock Sands at Porthmadog and the tiny little bays of Borthygest.
Welsh Highland & Ffestiniog Railways
  • From its terminus at Porthmadog, a 20 minute drive away, the newly opened Welsh Highland cuts a steam powered swath through the National Park passing the famous Aberglaslyn Pass, Beddgelert and onto Caernarfon.
