Between Machynlleth and the Mawddach Estuary lies the little-explored most southerly extremity of the Snowdonia National Park. The beautiful rugged mountains of Cader Idris (Wales' K2) are cut by deep glacial valleys offering spectacular countryside. Hendre Bach stands in the heart of this region.

Talyllyn Railway Talyllyn steam railway
(above left & right) Talyllyn Steam Railway runs from the coast at Tywyn to the station here at Abergynolwyn. The track was originally used by the slate quarry workers at Bryneglwys near Abergynolwyn. Lovely walks from here to the quarry site.
