- Newcastle Emlyn - only a 10 minute walk (downhill) to the centre of the town - an old fashioned market town with a ruined castle and an unhurried charm.
- An ideal base from which to explore the fabulous surrounding scenery of the Teify Valley and was once famous for the variety and strength of its beer - ‘Red Kite' ale is still brewed locally (named after the beautiful Red Kite which can often be seen catching the thermals high above) .

- Stroll down the high street which still has individual shops, cafes and pubs and one of Wales' leading ladies' dress shop, Ededa J's, can prove a wonderful shopping experience - no crowds only helpful ‘personal shoppers'!
- Newcastle Emlyn amenities include bank, post office, internet cafe, supermarket, filling station, chemist, doctor vet and interesting independent shops. The market and cattle market are held every Thursday and nearby farmers still drive their animals through the town.
- A large showroom and gallery in Tan y Groes with an extensive range of work including handmade pottery by Joe Finch and beautiful pictures by world renowned artist Trudi Finch.
- Arguably the finest mixed game fishing in England and Wales. Don't forget to pack your fishing gear.
- A well established family business who traditionally oak smoke local produce which is sold in their own shop and all over Wales. Local fishermen take their catch to be smoked and sliced.
- Nearby Cenarth, a village in a picturesque setting on the Teifi River, is home to the National Coracle Centre and Flour Museum - watching the salmon leap the falls during the autumn is an inspiring sight and a memory to treasure.
- Motoring is still a pleasure in this ‘secret' part of Wales and the wonderful Cardiganshire Heritage Coastline with unspoilt beaches, coves, harbours and coastal villages, is an easy drive away from this house set in the Teifi Valley.
- Walk this ancient track across the Preseli Hills. A perfect getaway far from the madding crowd.
- Ynys Lochtyn, Llangranog is a pleasant walk with fine sea views and lots of birds to spot. Do remember your binoculars and camera.
