• The barn is located on a former farmstead, just outside the village of Adfa, where the original farmhouse is occupied by the owner.

• This area is Wales’ best kept secret – timeless border country home to low hills and lakes, waterfalls and rivers, stretching from the Berwyn mountains in the north, to the Brecon Beacons in the south with the Elan valley and Radnor forest in the centre.
• From the cottage you can see the Kerry Ridgeway, great walking country with terrific views - a gentle 15 mile route through the hills of the central Welsh Marches, walking through history from the Stone Age, via the Bronze and Iron Ages, to a Norman motte and bailey castle high above Bishop's Castle.

• Gregynog Hall is just a few miles away and is reached via driving through beautiful countryside and past some striking sculpture. Enjoy good food at the new café and do visit the shop selling Welsh produce and crafts.

• Powis Castle and gardens and Montgomery Castle are both a short drive away as is the Llanfair Railway which runs along the scenic route from Llanfair Caereinion to Welshpool.

• Llyn Mawr Nature Reserve (SSSI) is close by and if you like your wildlife wet, this is the place to be – all 12 hectares of it! Water-loving birds and aquatic plants all thrive because of a plentiful supply of food delivered to the lake by rain, air and the surrounding nutrient rich moorland.

• Lake Vyrnwy is a pleasant drive away with its walking routes that weave in and out of the forests and take you along side the lake. Whether you are a hardened hill walker or a casual ambler, there are 4 main trails to choose from. Great to explore on foot or on your bike, you`ll not go away without fond memories.

• Llanidloes is a favorite destination of visitors to this area with its only surviving timber framed market hall in Wales in the centre of town, where locals meet to take shelter or pass the time of day. Do visit the Welsh Quilt Centre.
• The walk to the source of the River Severn starts near here, a seven mile round trip with panoramic views and paths which wind in and out of the trees alongside the River.

• The breathtaking Elan Valley, Clewedog & Bala Lakes are all within easy reach of this newly converted barn, the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions mid Wales has to offer.
