About this cottage:
- A bright, spacious, bay fronted Victorian style modern home, furnished with elegance and style and extremely well-equipped.
- Lovely woodland views through French doors which open onto the patio and garden from the lounge and a short staircase leads down from here to a charming garden room with a high beamed ceiling and glass doors to decking and garden.
- There are oak floors and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, a separate family/tv room, luxury fitted kitchen and an en suite master bedroom.
- Oak Lodge is situated in the small village of Llechryd where there are 2 pubs within walking distance - both serving food - the River Teifi flows through the village, spanned by a picturesque Drovers road stone bridge.
- Hammet House Hotel (formerly known as Castell Malgwyn) is a splendid 18th century country mansion which now has new owners and has been refurbished with a mixture of old and new furnishings, all adding to its stylish look. Open all day and every day including Sunday - enjoy lunch followed by a stroll through the 7 acres of grounds or along the river, a treat not to be missed - booking advisable. 01239 682 382
- Within an easy drive is Poppit Sands, where the Teifi meets the sea, almost half a mile of glorious sands backed by dunes (an SSSI) and there is an excellent traditional beach café which serves lovely home made food - good for gossip and local information.
- Gwbert is a village across the estuary from Poppit Sands – there are 2 hotels (one with a spa), Cardigan Golf Course (18 holes with glorious views) and dolphin spotting boat trips from the pontoon at the Patch beach at Teifi Boat Club (In season). Nearby is Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park – a great family day out.
- The Welsh Wild Life Centre in Cilgerran is set on the banks of the River Teifi in the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve and is a stunning award winning building with panoramic views over the River, Cardigan and woodland. The centre is teeming with wildlife including water buffaloes and otters.
- There are interactive cameras out on the marsh watching the wildlife, an adventure playground and the ‘Glasshouse Café’ renowned for its locally produced food. The River Teifi runs alongside the Reserve and a gentle paddle in a canoe along the still waters of the gorge to picturesque Cilgerran Castle – made famous in a painting by Turner – is a unique experience.
- Cenarth is a picturesque village on the River Teifi, famed for its falls where the salmon leap in the autumn and for it coracles – a small museum tells the story of these ancient boats and the people who use them to catch fish.
- The county town has supermarkets, a high street lined with Georgian buildings, a theatre/cinema complex a thriving market and lots of small shops to enjoy.
- If its an adrenalin rush you need then try coasteering, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, kayaking, gorge walking or more with experienced guides to help you.
- Learn the fascinating story of the thriving Welsh woollen industry in this flagship museum. An interesting experience for families - even teenagers may approve.
- Visit fascinating reconstructed iron age buildings on the original site of an iron age fort. Learn how people lived and worked. The are also wonderful woodland walks in this beautiful valley.
- Unforgetable trips along the beautiful Ceredigion Heritage Coast to see stunning scenery and marine wildlife including dolphins, porpoise and seals. Trips on special survey vessels available where you can listen to dolphins as they communicate with each other under water.
- Walk as far as you like along the coastal path then get a bus back. The Poppit Rocket service no 405 and summer bus Cardi Bach run both ways along the route calling in at beaches and coves.
- Enjoy a holiday at any time of the year with lots to see and do when staying in this village home for holidays near Cardigan. Village pub, Carpenters Arms, good simple food or several restaurants by Poppit & Gwbert. A favourite is Bowen's Fish & Chip shop in St Dogmaels.
