About The Area

Beaches

  • Rhosneigr has 3 fabulous safe sandy beaches. The main beach close to the village centre is a wide bay with rocky outcrops. Walk on further to Cymyran beach, rarely busy making it perfect for dog walking and or just to enjoy the spectacular views. Quieter is Broad Beach perfect for families and also popular with surfer. These are all close to the property but explore the Coastal Path and find your own secluded spot.

Rhosneigr Water sports

  • Rhosneigr is a surfing mecca and is considered to have some of the best surfing beaches in the UK. Kite and windsurfers can be seen riding the waves whatever the weather. If you’re new to surfing but want to try your hand, beginners can have lessons by well-trained surfers at The Funsport Shop.

Places to eat

  • This popular all year round seaside village has many good pubs and restaurants. Try Sandy's Bistro and Sullivan's Restaurant in the village. On the outskirts is The Oystercatcher a stylish new modern restaurant set in the sand dunes. Enjoy eating on the balcony in quirky little beach hut style shelters or inside in the stylish interiors. Further afield The Marram Grass at Newborough is the latest 'in' place on Anglesey and made it into 2016 Good Food Guide.

Anglesey Golf Club

  • Close to the village is an 18-hole links course and an excellent restaurant - highly recommended and open to non members.

Holy Island

  • One of the most exciting and spectacular locations on Anglesey a birdwatchers paradise with an RSPB visitors centre beyond which is the South Stack Lighthouse 400 steps down - not for the faint hearted but views from the lighthouse itself are breathtaking.

Llynnon

  • The only fully operational windmill on the island where visitors can see the flour being ground followed by bread being made in the traditional way at the bakery. Enjoy a light snack at the tearooms before following the footpath to the re-constructed round houses, one of which is furnished and decorated to reflect life in pre-historic times.

Menai Bridge and Beaumaris

  • Both are set on the beautiful Menai Strait. Menai Bridge town has excellent shops - visit the chocolate shop to buy hand made treats or lunch at Dylan's for locally caught seafood. The location of this restaurant is stunning right above the water and almost below Telford's elegant suspension bridge. Also in the town there is a Waitrose the only one in North Wales. At Beaumaris visit the romantic castle surrounded by a moat - children will love the scary town gaol also open to the public. Lovely independent shops abound here. Do visit The Janet Bell Gallery, a renowned local artist, and buy prints of her depictions of the island to remember your holiday.

Caernarfon and beyond

  • Further afield are the towns of Bangor, Conwy, Llandudno and Caernarfon. The Royal town of Caernarfon is home to possibly the most famous of Wales’s castles. Explore the town’s streets lined with medieval walls or enjoy some lunch down at a trendy café at Victoria Dock.

Snowdonia

  • Snowdonia National Park is within easy reach across the Telford and Stephenson bridges from this holiday home on Anglesey. The mountains of Snowdonia not only provide spectacular scenery and a host of outdoor activities, but a great number of attractions from mountain railways to historic slate quarries.
