Why we recommend Briar Rose...

A secret cottage on the Gower. Fantastically located in the village of Reynoldston, at the heart of the Peninsula. Just a two minute walk to a highly rated gastro pub and five minutes from a host of golden sandy beaches. A dream cottage for children. Dogs are very welcome.

About Briar Rose
A solid stone cottage set within a large, private walled garden. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and charming features make Briar Rose a great base from which to explore the unspoiled beaches and breathtaking walks around Gower - Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

  • This cottage is ideally placed in a village location and boasts a large naturalized garden for children to explore. Wild ponies graze beyond the walled garden and kites frequently fly overhead. Within a stone's throw is King Arthur's Stone of myth and legend and on The Gower Way, a footpath that circles Gower.
  • The large and airy lounge has doors opening onto the suntrap patio for summer dining and a huge wood burner for cosy winter nights. Gather around the piano to sing a few sea shanties after a day of rock pooling and boogie boarding. There is a ground floor bathroom and stone flooring throughout, perfect for a carefree holiday.

  • Ideal for all age groups. The flexible layout is well suited to families or couples. The master bedroom with its whitewashed beams and quirky windows is a romantic haven of peace. Curl up on the huge sofa, read a book, and watch the butterflies dance at the window. Opposite is a suite of two bedrooms offering flexible accommodation - twin beds in the first room leading to a second room with a double bed as well as a set of children's bunks. A shower room is conveniently placed on this floor, complementing the ground floor bathroom.

  • Glimpses of the naturalised gardens can be seen all around the house. Step outside where the large rose-edged garden is waiting to be explored. There is an orchard, trees to climb, a fire pit to light the night and many places to just chill and relax. The rolling lawns are a perfect place for a picnic and are sheltered from sea breezes by high stone walls.

  • The pristine countryside and vast golden beaches of Gower are on your doorstep. Rhossili Beach and Three Cliffs Bay are just a few minutes drive away. Visit Mumbles, 20 minutes by car for boutique bars, restaurants and shops before strolling down the promenade to the Pier, stopping for Italian ice cream and superb coffee at Verdis along the way.

  • Briar Rose is the perfect cottage come summer or winter and will have you hankering to return to Gower time and again.

About The Area
Gower Beaches all within easy reach
  • All within 10 minutes drive the beaches of Gower are clean and sandy, uncluttered by people and many are dog-friendly.

Mewslade and Fall Bay
  • These beaches are often deserted and are dog-friendly all year round. Surfing is in the blood of the locals and the rollers are reliable here - as well as at LLangenith and Rhossili. Stop off at PJ's Surf Shop and kit-out your team.  If you are in luck PJ, a surf legend in these parts, will provide you with  a surf check.

Three Cliffs Bay

  • Three Cliffs is an iconic beach and Gower's most picturesque. The river valley meanders down to the sea complete with castle, salt marsh and sand dunes and the three cliffs at the tide's edge are enchanting in all seasons. Ramblers, climbers, and beachgoers flock here but the beach is vast and never feels overcrowded even in the height of summer.

Gower Coast Adventures

  • Take an exhilarating boat trip - not to be missed - aboard the rib 'Sea Serpent' and discover the unspoilt beauty of the magnificent Gower. You will almost certainly spot seals, dolphins, porpoise and even sunfish on a memorable two hour trip.

The Gower Way and King Arthur's Stone

  • Step just outside the red gate of Briar Rose to follow the ancient byway to Cefn Bryn and King Arthur's Stone, a Neolithic burial chamber that stands mysteriously at the top. Legend says it was formed from a stone thrown out of King Arthur's Shoe. Stunning sunsets and panoramic views of the North and South Gower beaches await you here and it is possible to see all the way to Pembrokeshire and Lundy Island from this magnificent atmospheric place.

Swansea Marina and National Waterfront Museum

  • For a fascinating day out Swansea Marina is host to 2 diverse Museums. The National Waterfront Museum tells the story of industry and innovation in Wales, now and over the last 300 years. Newly curated it stand in an impressive slate and glass building at the edge of Kings Dock, now transformed into Swansea Marina. Lose yourself in the history of Welsh industry and innovation where the technology of today puts the past at your fingertips.

  • Alongside you will find the Swansea Museum where you can discover the Mumbles Railway,  Britain's first ever passenger railway. Cafes, bars and restaurants are strung out around the Marina's edge making the Marina a great day out.

National Garden of Wales and Aberglasney

  • The National Botanical Garden of Wales and Aberglasney (A Garden lost in Time) are within an easy drive, as are the spectacular Llyn Brianne and Usk Reservoirs.

Places to eat

  • Whether you have been swimming, surfing, hiking or just relaxing the Gower has many pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes. Try The King Arthur just around the corner for great local dishes and daily specials. If you want stunning sea and beach views try The Beachhouse Restaurant at Oxwich Bay. The Britannia has award-winning food and great local atmosphere. Fish and Chips and Ice Cream are always a favourite beachside meal at Port Eynon.

  • Further afield Mumbles offer a world of choices. Take the challenge of 'The Mumbles Mile' and stop off for an ale at over 10 pubs while appreciating the outstanding views across Swansea Bay (the 2nd largest tidal reach in the World).
