Holiday cottages near Lampeter town situated inland from Cardigan Bay, lying near the banks of the River Teifi. Lampeter is perhaps best known for St. Davids College, the oldest degree programme in Wales, which was founded in 1822 by Bishop Thomas Burgess of St. Davids. The original building was designed to imitate an Oxbridge College; visitors are welcome to wander the campus and grounds of this ancient college and soak up the grandeur and historical atmosphere. Now merged with University of Wales, St. David's College and the town itself still retain their traditional character and charm. Victorian and Georgian buildings line the streets of this lively and colourful market town with a thriving agricultural community. Regular events include the Cattle Mart, Horse Fair, and annual Food Festival but to name a few. Lampeter has plenty of delightful places to eat and drink, from welcoming pubs and restaurants to quaint tea rooms and cafes.
The Town Hall is worth a visit for its excellent cafe and the colourful Welsh Quilt Centre- where gorgeous Welsh quilts and blankets are exhibited and, quilting workshops are hosted throughout the year. Lampeter town is within easy reach of our holiday cottages in the fantastic Welsh National Park countryside. Don't forget there are plenty of trails and walks to explore in this area of outstanding natural beauty, right on the doorstep of our country holiday cottages.
