About The Piggery
Warm and welcoming rustic retreat in the beautiful Teifi Valley
  • The Piggery stands opposite a Grade II listed farmhouse and barns on a working organic dairy farm.
  • The charming cottage door surrounded by roses beckons you to step inside.
  • The many artisan furnishings include delightful bespoke cabin beds and broad wooden floors making this a special rustic retreat. The Piggery evokes a real sense of peaceful calm.
  • The bespoke country kitchen offers hedgerow views and glimpses of the wild pond beyond. Pure and delicious water is on tap from the local spring (tested annually).
  • Simply furnished bedrooms are warm and cosy with soft beds and genuine Welsh blankets.
  • The sitting-room/kitchen is convivial, warmed by the log burner on cooler nights.  The evenings can be  spent gazing at stars not screens, the blackest of night skies makes this a rare pleasure. The simple things are the best, and here there is time to savour them all.
  • When the time comes to explore the countryside or strike out for the coast, only 1/2 hour away, your hosts are on hand to gently point the way to quiet beaches far from the masses.
  • Biking, walking and white water rafting are easily accessible from here. There is also a safe store for your bikes.
  • The Piggery has an unexpected past.  It is has been a location for many films in both the English and Welsh Language. The farm also was the location for Rhod Gilbert the comedian, for his acclaimed Work Experience programme in which he was a farmer for a day!

These, despite Owain Glyn Dŵr’s best efforts, still stand today. Take a walk around this stunning castle overlooking the Teifi Valley cared for by the `National Trust.  Dogs welcome on leads.

St Dogmaels

  • A trip to award winning St Dogmael's Farmers Market on Tuesday between 9 am and 1 pm showcases the wide variety of local produce and gifts from within a 30 mile radius.  Indulge your taste buds and gather a  picnic for a visit to Poppit Sands on the Cardigan coast.

Y Felin Water Mill

  • Close to St Dogmaels is one of only two working mills in Wales. The mill has been completely renovated with its original machinery intact. Y Felin dates back to the twelfth century and is thought to have been built by St Dogmaels Abbey. A guided tour of the mill will reveal how their wonderful selection of flour is made, including Welsh organic wholemeal, seed and herb, and garlic and chive. The delightful tea room offers a mouth-watering selection of fresh home-made produce, including scones, cakes, bread and light lunches.
