About Felin Dwarch
Pembrokeshire hideaway holiday cottage, pet friendly short walk to Abermawr
  • A 'hideaway' North Pembrokeshire cottage (Visit Wales 5*) nestling in a small sheltered wooded valley beside a country lane in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
  • Decorated and stylishly furnished with great attention to detail ('Visit Wales' 5 Star Grade),a short walk through National Trust woodland leads to the shingle beach of Abermawr and the pretty cove of Aberbach.
  • Set in several acres of secluded attractive gardens which extend across a quiet country lane, bordered by a babbling brook, it is a haven of peace and tranquillity with a private patio, ideal for al-fresco dining.
  • The bedrooms, dining/sitting room with its wood burning stove overlook the gardens and surrounding countryside.
  • The path to the sea is adjacent to the cottage and winds across a field and through National Trust woodlands bursting with bird life, carpeted in springtime with primroses, bluebells, campion, wood anemones and wild garlic.
  • New gravelled bridle path to beach.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • The cottage is within the boundary of the National Park with its magnificent coastal scenery and path - no need for the car, walk through the woods (10 mins) to the Coastal Path, Abermawr and Aberbach.

About The Area
Fly fishing
  • The cottage owners have their own private lakes at their home at Lochturffin, approximately 3 miles away. The larger lake is stocked with rainbow trout and free fly fishing is available. (limited to 2 rods at any one time - equipment not supplied). The fishing season is 1st April to 31st October and a fishing licence is required.  Please use dry fly or nymphs, no reservoir lures please.  Catch and release is encouraged but you are welcome to take 1 rainbow trout home per day - a fishing log book is available for you to complete.
Nature Reserve
  • The lakes are situated in a private nature reserve - feel free to stroll around the lakes and watch an abundance of wildlife and enjoy a picnic using one of the picnic benches, you may even see a trout leap.  Please supervise children at all times and swimming is not allowed.

Abermawr Beach & Aberbach Cove - Dogs welcome all year round.
  •  Isambard Kingdom Brunel once had great plans to turn this into the West Wales terminal for the Great Western Railway and port for the Atlantic trade. The 1845 potato famine stopped the plans. A keen eye can still distinguish some of the preparatory work.
  • The remains of a long vanished petrified forest can be seen at Abermawr and the pretty cove of Aberbach is good for seal spotting in September -  the small house above  was once a telegraph hut and It was from this point that the first telegraph line was laid between Britain and America with the first transmission by Queen Victoria.
Fascinating North Pembrokeshire Coast / Fishing
  • Plenty of activities are available nearby  for everyone staying in this Pembrokeshire hideaway holiday cottage. Choose from, fishing, swimming, cycling, walking through woodlands or on the coastal path which winds its way along cliff tops - wonderful views. Pets are welcome too.
Mathry village in Pembrokeshire Coastal Park
  • The hilltop village of Mathry  has a pub, (good bar food - within walking distance for the energetic - take a torch to guide you home) and a church which is part of ' Saints & Stones' - included in a tour of the Pilgrims Ways of Pembrokeshire. The church is closed at present for restoration.
Porthgain, The Sloop Inn, The Shed Bistro/Wine Bar  & Letterston

Do walk out to the headland to enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery. Solva Boat Trips operate MV Swift from the harbour to the north coast of Pembrokeshire. There is an abundance of wildlife to see. You might like to try a spot of fishing or take an evening cruise.
St Davids village city and St Davids Cathedral, Pembrokeshire
  • Britain's smallest city with the magnificent Cathedral nestled at its heart. The village city is full of interesting & individual shops, galleries and crafts as well as a choice of places to eat and drink. Do book a memorable boat trip to the off shore bird islands.
Pembrokeshire Art Galleries
  • Visit John Rogers Gallery St Peters Lane,St Davids, Simon Swinfield Gallery Main St Solva, John Cleal Workshop Wales, Manorowen and Myles Pepper's West Wales Arts Centre, West St, Fishguard.
Gwaun Valley & Tafarn Zinc
  • The Gwaun Valley is an exceptionally beautiful deep wooded valley highly regarded by geologists. Do take a drive to Llanychaer from Fishguard and then travel on up the valley - eventually to Newport. Do stop en route for a drink at Bessie's - a step back in time!
  • Drive over the Preseli Hills to Rosebush, once intended to be a Spa town and enjoy a meal at the historic and award winning Tafarn Sinc. See the unused railway station and historic tableau built for anticipated visitors to the Spa town.
