Why we recommend The Keep...

Pembrokeshire holiday apartment with shared courtyard garden and deck - pets welcome

About The Keep
The Keep, an ideal Pembrokeshire apartment for two, and your dog is welcome too
  • The Keep is hidden away in a small courtyard of cottages just a short walk from the shops and restaurants of Pembroke's bustling main street.  A stylish apartment for two, this is an ideal base for a relaxed Pembrokeshire holiday.
  • The living area is open plan with a well-equipped kitchen, modern glass dining table and comfortable sofa and armchairs round a feature wall fire.
  • The tall ceilings and painted stone walls, bordered by a great ceiling timber, hark back to an era of horse-drawn carriages.  The Keep formed part of the arched entrance to the courtyard of an elegant Pembroke town house.
  • Just beyond the apartment's french windows, the shared courtyard is a sun-trap with gravel-surrounded flower beds and decking - a great space for summer drinks or al-fresco dining.
  • Though totally detached and independent from each other, can be booked with following cottages for friends/family to stay together - 1322 Priory Cottage, 1321 Tudor Cottage, 1335 Cromwell Cottage.

About The Area
Historic Pembroke town
  • Search the antique centres in Pembroke for some wonderful bargains.  There are two converted churches as well as shops on the main street, packed with interesting ancient artefacts.
  • If you are looking for something more modern investigate the main street craft shops for holiday souvenirs.
  • Pembroke has a wide choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from - all just a stone's throw away.  Try The Kings Arms for a romantic evening!
Pembrokeshire Castles
  • Pembrokeshire is scattered with castles in all stages of repair.  Pembroke Castle, birth place of Henry VII, is just around the corner from The Keep.  This magnificent and well restored stronghold on the banks of the river estuary is the venue for many exciting events throughout the year - historical re-enactment days, falconry displays and music festivals. It is certainly one of the finest medieval Castles in Wales and just on the doorstep!
  • Travel a few miles south to Manorbier where its splendid castle is perched on a bluff above the sandy beach. A classic shape, it has been described as 'a startling combination of beauty and function, residence and fortification, comfort and utility, which entices, enchants and educates the curious mind.' The castle and village are well worth your attention.
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
  • Pembrokeshire is bordered by the Pembrokeshire Coast Path - now part of the All Wales Coastal Path.  It is world famous for its stunning cliff top scenery and the freshest sea air.
  • In spring the path is strewn with an abundance of wildflowers and throughout the year both the scenery and wildlife are something to behold!
Beaches near to The Keep
  • From Pembroke it is a short drive to the beaches in the south of the county. Check the National Park's website for details - they list the beaches and their different characteristics - and choose a beach to suit your taste - from small coves to thundering surf!
  • Nearest are Freshwater East - a wide stretch of white sand scattered with an abundance of beautiful shells - and Manorbier - a favourite surfing beach and dog friendly throughout the year.

Lamphey Court Spa

  • Spoil yourself with a visit to this luxury Spa.  Just five miles away, Lamphey Court offers a choice of revitalising treatments as well as a tennis court, swimming pool, gym and sauna.

Tenby

  • A popular seaside resort with charming Medieval walled town filled with narrow streets bustling with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants just a stroll away from 5 golden sandy beaches overlooked by elegant Georgian terraces. Take a boat trip to Caldey Island from Tenby Harbour.

Sea Safari, Martin's Haven

  • Enjoy a sea safari out to explore the stunningly beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and its extraordinary wildlife. Visit Skomer Island and spend a day exploring the beautiful island nature reserve or discover the thrill of high speed wildlife adventures around the cliffs and coves of Skomer, Skokholm and Grassholm.

 Brunel Cycle Trail

  • Cycle the Brunel Trail from Neyland Marina, passing through Westfield Pill Nature Reserve and all the way to the county town of Haverfordwest. Bike hire is available from 'Mikes Bikes' who will deliver bicycles to your door!

 Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre

 Milford Marina

  • While away a few pleasurable hours browsing waterside shops and enjoying refreshments in one of the cafes, bars and restaurants as you gaze over the decks of fabulous luxurious yachts.

Why you love The Keep
Had a wonderful few days exploring Pembrokeshire in the sun. The Keep is the perfect base for day trips across the whole area. Had a lovely walk from Stackpole Court, along the Lily Ponds to Broad Haven South Beach and Barafundle... not to be missed! Amazing food @ both the Stackpole Inn & The Golden Lion in Newport. A wonderful time had by all!
