Why we recommend Ty Coch...

Location, location, location - this pretty traditional Victorian house is centrally located between St Davids and Fishgaurd, within walking distance of Porthgain Harbour and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Pet friendly, Ty Coch is a modest home, perfect for a family or friends to explore the stunning North Pembrokeshire beaches and coastline.

About Ty Coch
A pet friendly red brick traditional Victorian house, within walking distance of Porthgain Harbour, Ty Coch is a comfortable base for families and friends to enjoy the St Davids Peninsula and Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

  • If you dream of days gone by, when home comforts meant cosy not chic, then Ty Coch may just be the place for you.
  • Located in the rural village of Llanrhian, on the quiet coastal road, Ty Coch is a comfortable base to explore all that Pembrokeshire has to offer.  The Strumble Shuttle bus stops just outside the door, allowing you to leave the car at home, while Porthgain Harbour and the coastal path are just a short walk away.
  • The cottage has been part of Manor Farm since 1896, originally housing the farm manager, it now welcomes guests enjoying a more traditional holiday stay.
  • As neighbours to the farmyard, you are invited to experience farm life at first-hand, including a visit to the milking parlour, when the cows come home.
  • The modest furnishings and fittings remain true to the character of the cottage. Each of the rooms are comfortably  furnished, providing everything that you need for a relaxing break.
  • The enclosed garden is for children and pets to play, and a lovely suntrap for an evening barbecue to end your day. Be aware country smells are part of everyday life here.

About The Area
Porthgain Fishing Village, a 15 minutes path walk away
  • Porthgain is a small picturesque harbour with the Shed bistro/bar, the Sloop Inn, a character pub serving excellent bar food and 2 art galleries showing the work of local artists and crafts.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path

  • The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs both east and west from Porthgain. The dramatic coastal scenery, flower and wildlife are what make Pembrokeshire one of the world’s best holiday destinations (National Geographic voted Pembrokeshire the 2nd best coastal destination in the world) splendid at all times of year, but the explosion of colour with the spring flowers is something to behold!

Treath Llyfyn Beach near by

  • The Pembrokeshire Coast Path to the west brings you to Traeth Llyfyn beach - a wide expanse of sand great for family beach days, picnics and games of rounders (with a long staircase down to the sand).

Abereiddi and the Blue Lagoon

  • Neighbouring Abereiddi, has pretty colour washed former miners cottages, black sandy beach where dogs are welcome all year round and the remarkable Blue Lagoon. Popular with families, the sand which is visible at low tide, also contains a high concentration of fossils and is a draw for fossil hunters.

St Davids City and St Davids Peninsula Pembrokeshire

  • St Davids is Britain’s smallest city. It’s lovely medieval cathedral and ancient Bishops’ Palace form the historic centre but it also boasts a number of modern amenities - banks, post office, supermarket, filling station, chemist, doctor and vet – as well as a good range of interesting shops.

Boat Trips to Ramsey Island

  • Book a boat trip to Ramsey Island and experience the thrill of a jet boat trip across Ramsey Sound, through the infamous Bitches, and then the contrast of moving in close to the cliffs to see the wildlife at close range. For the less adventurous there are conventional boats which both circuit and land on the island.

Whitesands Beach

  • Whitesands Beach, just six miles from TyCoch, is one of the most stunning locations on the Pembrokeshire coast. The wide sandy beach has a Blue Flag award and lifeguard cover in the summer make it popular for swimming, surfing and water sports of all sorts with surf hire and surfing lessons available at the beach. The beach is a lovely place to walk and between October and the end of April your dog can come too. When you have had fun on the beach visit the Whitesands Cafe for tasty snacks and refreshments.

Fishguard Town and Pretty Lower Fishguard Harbour

  • Just six miles north you can wander among the boats or walk out along the quayside to the sailing club and (low tide) beach beyond of this pretty, unspoiled coastal harbour. Buy fantastic local produce from the weekly farmers market and investigate the individual shops, restaurants and pubs in this 'up and coming' little town. (The Lonely Planet Guide).

Scolton Manor and County Museum

  • Just a little further afield, enjoy a trip back to Victorian times at the Scolton Manor and Countty Museum. The house has been sympathetically restored to give a taste of Victorian society and style and together with 60 acres of parkland where your well behaved dog on a lead is welcome and a cafe providing delicious homemade cakes, this is a great family day out.

Family Fun
  • Award winning Folly Farm, Manor Wildlife Park, Bluestone Water Park, Heatherton Sports Park, the Dinosaur Park, Hangar Five and West Wales Karting all offer excellent fun filled family days out.

Why you love Ty Coch
The house is very well equipped and laid out with plenty of space for all. The garden table was well used. Possibly a garden recliner would be useful to enjoy the lovely garden. Very well equipped all round. The service has been good from start to finish and it is clear Mrs Jenkins just wants everyone to enjoy a relaxing time in her property which we have all done. Thank you. Welcoming Welsh cakes & tea service ready after a long journey. House well stashed with the things you will need for a relaxing holiday. Great location, near enough to the coast, walks and towns etc. We will think about returning in the future and will be happy to recommend Ty Coch to friends and family. The Hilton Court Gardens and Shops were a really nice find and well worth a visit. Loved Solva Woollen Mill too.
