Why we recommend SQ - St Davids...

Stay in the heart of St Davids, in an enviable location, with views to Cross Square, the Cathedral tower and coastline. One pet welcome.

About SQ - St Davids

This St Davids property is perfect for couples and friends (including a pet), in search of something special, in the heart of the city.

  • This hidden gem, in the centre of St Davids, is in an enviable location that cannot be beaten.
  • From your first floor window, you have the best seat in town. Take in the sights and sounds of St Davids. Look out to the gardens of Cross Square and the 14th Century cross, to the shops and restaurants, the Cathedral tower, and the Pembrokeshire coastline. Everything you could possibly need is right on your doorstep, to make this a most memorable stay.
  • The culture and vibrancy of St Davids life, is reflected in the apartment’s interior eclectic style. A fusion of old and new has been thoughtfully combined to create a unique environment in which to stay. Family air-looms sit perfectly with contemporary pieces, the family china and Murano style glassware are perfect examples.
  • You enter the property through a discreet door, immediately off the square. Beyond there is a secure store (perfect for bikes and surfboards), and a pleasant garden with curved stone raised borders and sun dappled terrace, perfect for alfresco dining and entertaining.
  • Off the ground floor lobby is a convenient utility room, with washing machine and tumble dryer. Stairs take you to the first floor lounge/diner which is bathed in light from the large picture window, framing the square. Sit in the window seat overlooking the square, or peacefully out on the roof terrace, with its modern glass balustrade, overlooking the garden terrace.
  • A fully equipped contemporary design kitchen, bath and shower room are also to be found on this floor, as well as a glimpse into the buildings history, with exposed brickwork and period details. The eclectic theme continues with a 1930’s travel luggage label stamped floor, to a wall mural depicting country crockery and kitchenware.
  • Two bedrooms and a cloakroom can be found on the second floor. The master bedroom, with kingsize bed, has a view to compete with the lounge window below. Here you can look beyond the coast to the sea. Watch the sun set over Carn Llidi and Carn Penberry, for the most perfect end to a wonderful day. The cosy second bedroom has a full size single day bed with an additional separate pull-out single bed, offering flexible sleeping arrangements.

About The Area

St Davids Holiday Apartment near shops, pubs and restaurants

  • With its splendid cathedral dating back to the 12th Century, Bishop's Palace, cafés and local produce, there is plenty to keep you occupied for days of browsing. Don't miss the country market on a Thursday between April and September. In Oriel y Parc, you will find lots of information about the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, useful maps and guidebooks as well as an art gallery and café.

St Davids Cathedral and Bishops' Palace

  • Investigate the magnificent medieval Cathedral and ruined Bishops' Palace dedicated to Wales's Patron Saint. The Cathedral is a busy church but also an international venue for music throughout the year; a memorable and rewarding place to visit. The Bishop's Palace will captivate your imagination (and your children's) and take you back to glories past.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

  • From St Davids you can walk to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, both east and west. The cliffs are spectacular; the bird and wildlife is captivating; the sea and sky a constantly changing panorama. The Coast Path circles the Peninsula offering miles of breathtaking coastline, all within the easy reach of a two mile radius.

Caerfai Beach and Whitesands Bay

  • A 15 minute walk leads to Caerfai Beach. This dog and family-friendly cove is perfect for sandcastles and rock pooling. A short drive will take you to the Blue Flag beach at Whitesands – popular with families and surfers alike. The café serves breakfast and evening meals in the summer season or why not enjoy a takeaway and sit on the beach to see the spectacular sunsets.

Coastal Shuttle Buses

  • If you would like to leave your car behind, jump onto the local coastal bus service - and travel up or down the   coast.  You can leave and join the bus at will and services run the length of the coastal path.

TYF Adventure Day

  • Do something a little different and get the adrenaline flowing on an adventure day out - kayaking, surfing, climbing or coasteering. Take a step into the unknown with the experienced guides at TYF (the booking shop is in the heart of St. Davids). But best of all experience it in the beautiful and rugged surroundings of the Pembrokeshire Coast.

 Solva

  • This is a pretty village with parking on the harbour-side. With the chinking of boat halyards in the background. Try Fish and Chips at '35' (next to the harbour car park) and investigate the shops - clothes and gifts, antiques, pottery and curios.  Walk along the Quay to the Café at the Yacht Club and enjoy a freshly caught crab sandwich and watch the boating activity. Make your way up to Middle Mill to visit and shop at the oldest working mill in Pembrokeshire. Colourful woven rugs and local craft of the highest quality will tempt you to take a part of Wales back home with you.
St Bride's Bay Water Taxi for Walkers
  • Solva Sailboats operate a water taxi which will take you to your chosen destination from where you can walk back along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to Solva. Possible destinations include Porth Clais, Porthmynawydd, St Justinians, Nolton Haven and Little Haven (weather dependent). Phone 01437 720972.

Porthgain and Abereiddy

  • A charming village with an attractive harbour. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was a flourishing seaport exporting slate and shale. Now it is a quaint harbour occupied with small fishing boats. Don’t miss the opportunity to buy crab fresh off the boat when the fishermen return. Have dinner in or out at the Sloop Inn, and enjoy some of the finest Fish and Chips at the Shed, where locally caught crab and lobster is also served. Walk along the coast path to the amazing Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy. A former slate quarry with unnaturally blue water. Look out for the seals. Simply exhilarating.
Preseli Hills
  • Enjoy a day in the hills. Explore the rolling heath and grasslands 536 m above sea level at the highest point. Look out for sleepy villages, tiny hamlets, micro breweries, Cilgwyn Candle Maker, Pant Mawr Farmhouse Cheeses and Tafarn Zinc, the highest pub in Pembrokeshire.
Cardigan Bay
  • Explore the coast, coast path and beaches around Cardigan Bay. Visit sleepy villages, country markets, tiny churches and the bustling county town of Cardigan.

Family Days out in Pembrokeshire

  • Further south in the county there are theme parks galore.  Look up Oakwood Theme Park, Bluestone, Folly Farm Zoo and Heatherton for a good mix.

Tenby South Pembrokeshire

  • Lots to see and do in Tenby at any time of the year, elegant Georgian architecture, boutiques, craft shops, museums and art galleries to browse, a large variety of eating places, pubs and ice cream parlours to tempt, boat trips, fishing, sailing, wind and kite surfing, spectacular cliff top walks and Blue Flag beaches to enjoy.

Why you love SQ - St Davids
For a last minute short break, the apartment was ideal. It's thoughtfully designed and beautifully appointed. Really hard to fault anything. I would, and will, happily recommend the apartment to friends and family.
Moore family
This is a great, well positioned apartment because it is by the sea. We have journeyed from mountains to castles. The Bishops pub is right next to this apartment. They have wonderful food, especially their gourmet burgers. Grace 10 years old Thank you for the welcome pack and flowers - that's a really nice touch and definetly helped our holiday get off to a good start. We've had a warm, comfortable week in SQ and enjoyed the close proximity to the local pubs and cafes. The coastal walks - St Davids Head and St Non's Chapel to Solva were both stunning and easy for a 10 year old. A lovely apartment.
France Famiy - Worcestershire
This is a lovely apartment, clean smartly designed and well appointed. We have had a splendid week and would not hesitate to use this place again. So thank you. P.S. The welcome pack was wonderful.

Cross Square Apartment is ideally situated to enjoy the nightly murmurations of the famous St Davids Cathedral crows! Magical! You can park free of charge down the road towards the Cathedral - first left after the orange painted 'Pebbles' cafe on the corner! Welcome pack very much appreciated. Lovely accommodation. Would recommend visit to Caerfai Bay behind Oriel y Parc visitor centre - about a mile or so on foot. Short cliff walk along to the right, about 1/2 mile to St Non's Chapel. From there you can walk back to St Davids. A visit to Porthgain is a must! Atmospheric & charming location and the best fish & chips ever. A boat trip around Skomer takes just over an hour with wonderful views of the island and plenty of seals to spot. Boats leave from Martin's Haven and dogs are welcome on the cruises but not on the island itself. 'Newport sands' is doggy heaven.Have a great time.
Jean & Malcolm Llywelyn & terrier Brecon, Powys
Really pleasant and well appointed accommodation. Very clean, roomy and light. Parking on Quickwell Hill very close and reasonably priced. Both pubs, the Bishops and the Farmers Arms are totally dog friendly and serve decent 'pub grub'. We also had a take away meal from the Saffron Asian restaurant, which was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We also appreciated the 'welcome pack'.
