Why we recommend Lilac Tree Cottage...

Pembrokeshire cosy country cottage just for 2 near St Nicholas, Strumble Head

About Lilac Tree Cottage

Pembrokeshire cosy country cottage just for 2 (plus a babe in arms and maybe a doggy friend too!)

  • Surrounded by glorious Pembrokeshire countryside, this pet friendly cottage is a country retreat tucked away in the middle of a row of 5 small cottages – a perfect spot for relaxing 'away from it all'.
  • Set by the side of a tiny private lane close to the pretty village of St Nicholas, the cottage has been lovingly restored and furnished by the owners, who live next door.
  •  The country style kitchen is warm and welcoming with a Rayburn (for hot water and central heating only) and a beamed ceiling.  There is a woodburner in the cosy  sitting room from where French doors open onto an enclosed and very sheltered terrace and lawn – lovely for al fresco dining and sundowners!
  • Local beauty spots and footpaths include one leading up to a Neolithic burial chamber from where there are fantastic panoramic views of the whole of St Davids Peninsula including Garn Fawr – made famous by the artist John Piper who had his studio here in a traditional stone cottage.
  • Nearby is the beautiful North Pembrokeshire rugged coast with the meandering Coastal Path, now part of the All Wales Coastal Path, and the secluded pebble beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach -  backed by woodlands carpeted with bluebells, wood anemones, primroses and wild garlic in early spring.
Pwllderi
  • This is a viewing point on the Coastal Path famous for seal and bird watching as well as views along the fantastic coastal panorama.

'Strumble Shuttle' convenient for Pembrokeshire country cottage

  • A ‘hail and ride’ coastal bus service which stops in the village 3 times a day in the summer – ride all the way to Newport via Fishguard in the North or down to St Davids in the south via Porthgain – with lots of stops and places to visit in between -   hop off and on when and where you like and no car parking!

Pembrokeshire countryside

  • Away from the coast meander along tiny country lanes whose hedgebanks are a riot of  white, pink & blue wild flowers in early summer and discover pretty villages and ancient churches -  St Nicholas Church is on the route of ‘Saints & Stones’ – one of the 'Pilgrim Ways' of Pembrokeshire.

Tregwynt Woollen Mill

  • Do visit Tregwynt Mill – this world famous working mill weaves and sells exclusive Welsh wool blankets, throws and cushions, furniture, accessories and clothing  - authentic Welsh tradition with innovative and modern design – there is a tea shop here too serving lovely home made food.

Cottage Caterers

  • Cottage Caterers (01348 891296) are within a short drive – choose from a range of home prepared meals specially designed for reheating in your own kitchen – wonderful after a day out exploring – no cooking!

Mathry

  • This ancient hilltop village has a pub serving food and an interesting Church (also on the Saints & Stones circuit).
  • Take time out and enjoy refreshments (daily between 8 am and 5pm)  and perhaps choose a souvenir at the newly opened Siop Fach Tea Room & Collectables

Priskilly Golf Club

  • A short drive away is Priskilly Golf Club - experts and beginners alike welcome –  there is also an excellent 19th hole with delicious home made food.

Letterston

  • This small village is only a short drive away and has the award winning Gwaun Butchers (also a post office) which sells local meat, cheese and freshly baked bread as well as  ‘Somethings Cooking’– an excellent fish and chip takeaway-restaurant, a family friendly pub (The Harp) and a small supermarket too.
