Woodland Retreat Fairytale Holiday Cottage North Wales
  • A North Wales holiday cottage straight from a children's story book set in a magical location surrounded by woodlands.
  • A real welcome awaits with fresh homemade Welsh cakes, cupcakes and a bottle of wine. Bird boxes and feeders around the cottage ensure birdsong throughout the year - nuthatches, nesting blue tits and even woodpeckers can be seen feeding.
  • There are beach toys in the shed for long summer days and sledges for winter fun. Guests will love feeding the ducks and chickens in the owners' garden nearby.
  • Pristine white interiors, bedrooms with simple crisp white bedding, 1930s fireplaces and pretty accessories. In the lounge a crackling log fire in the wood burner makes a cosy retreat - open the patio doors for an enchanting woodland atmosphere. Spend your evenings relaxing in the porch of this small woodland retreat and absorb the tranquil setting.
Local walks and bike rides - Coed y Brenin Cycle Trail and the Mawddach Trail
  • Right from the doorstep of this North Wales woodland retreat follow the disused railway line down towards Dolgellau. Bring bikes and cycle quiet lanes to the newly renovated ancient hostelry, the Cross Foxes, for food and drink. Walk or cycle along the Mawddach Trail on one of the most sublime estuaries in Britain or for the more adventurous try the North Wales Precipice Walk and appreciate the Mawddach Estuary in its entirety. Coed y Brenin nearby has world class cycle trails, 'Go Ape' rope adventures, lovely walks and a good café.
Cafe Culture in Dolgellau
  • Visit the interesting old town of Dolgellau which has a lovely café culture. Try T.H. Roberts, a converted Edwardian emporium, now a stylish café for homemade soups, scrumptious cakes and good coffee. There are excellent restaurants in the town - 'Dylanwad Da' (good influences) is recommended - and a popular farmers market every 3rd Sunday in the month. Euro Spar on the fringes of the town - winner of the Independent Retailer of the Year 2012 - also supplies homemade fish pies and Indian takeaways.
Fairbourne, Barmouth and Aberdovey Beaches, North Wales
  • Fairbourne and Barmouth are a pleasant drive away with miles of golden sands at Barmouth and a smaller sandy beach at Fairbourne. Drive down to the lovely seaside resort of Aberdovey with candy coloured houses, long uncrowded beach and seaside atmosphere.
Golf at Aberdovey and Harlech's Royal St Davids
  • There are stunning views from the course at the top of the hill in Dolgellau but more challenging are Aberdovey and Harlech's Royal St. Davids - both renowned throughout the golfing world.
The Centre for Alternative Technology, North Wales
  • Go Green - at The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth which shows tools and devices that work with nature rather than against it.
King Arthur's Labyrinth near fairytale holiday cottage North Wales
  • King Arthur's Labyrinth is close by - children will love the spooky underground boat ride!
Talyllyn, Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, North Wales
  • Talyllyn Railway at Tywyn goes up the beautiful Dysynni Valley - stop off at Dolgoch Falls for the waterfall walk before returning. The famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are at Porthmadog - both go through Snowdonia National Park's best scenery.
Watersports at Bala Lake
  • Nearby Bala has the biggest natural lake in Wales, perfect for all watersports and the world class white-water rafting centre is a short drive out of the town.
A warm welcome awaits at this North Wales Woodland Retreat Fairytale Cottage

We had a wonderful week in your pretty cottage. Loved all the thoughtful extra touches and the welcome goodies-thank you! We enjoyed all the activities in the area: Mountain Biking, climbing Snowdon, High ropes course, zip wires, Kayaking on Lake Bala and the lovely local walks. Wished we could stay longer! ( the DVD player was useful for 2 tired boys at the end of the day!)- Thanks

Lovely welcome, super cottage, beautiful country. Thank you so much.

Amazing welcome, loved the pastries!had wonderful hikes, it was a joy to come and rest in this lovely cottage. For a beautiful and amazing view climb the AranFawddwy! It is quiet challenging, but worth while the effort. The path is not very clear but with map and compass doable. Also had a good canoeing experience. Warming ourselves at the fire place was great!

Thanks so much for a truly wonderful holiday with you're amazing baking and chicken eggs. Wishing you all the best.

Back this time for two weeks. AS ever, the welcome was great and the thoughtfulness half way through our stay of home-made cake and more eggs was very kind and very welcome. Thank you for everything it made our stay the best ever. Visitors for Phils birthday all very impressed. We followed the railway over the bridge both ways and had a lovely lunch at the George Hotel. Precipice walk, braved a little further down the disused railway at the bottom of the wood was peaceful and lovely.

Thank you for the lovely welcome when we arrived what a beautiful cottage everything you could possibly want. Looking forward to coming again.

Barbara and Davie

Thank you so much for preparing the lovely cottage. We enjoyed everything, but most of all we appreciated the warm hospitality and peace and tranquillity. We will surely return to Wales.
