Abersoch is set in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ on the very tip of the 30 mile long Llyn Peninsula jutting out into the Irish Sea.
It is renowned for its fabulous beaches, internationally recognised surfing and sailing waters, boutique shopping, galleries, chic cafe culture and great restaurants. Abersoch is one of those places you will keep going back to year after year.
Abersoch hosts a number of annual events.
The RNLI get the New Year off to a fresh start with a quick dip in the sea. Everyone is welcome, brave participants and enthusiastic supporters. The theme for 2017 is ‘The Circus’. All money raised will go towards the vital work of the RNLI.
Abersoch Welsh Spring Festival is a weekend affair. It takes place in March usually the first weekend after St Davids Day (1 March). There is a traditional village fete, a mini food festival, an evening of music, competitions and a grand parade with prizes and lots of fun.
Abersoch Lifeboat Station Open Day takes place in May.
June is a busy month. The Abersoch 10K takes place and the local WI put on their traditional Summer Fair.
You had better get into training before August then you will be fit for the Round Pen Llyn Ultra Marathon, the Abersoch Regatta, Open Golf Competitions, Best Dressed Beach Huts, Crab Catching Competitions,, The Great Raft Race (juniors and seniors, Sand Castle Competition and a Paddleboarding Race. Relax and chill at Glass Butter Beach Festival, a feast of music wakeboarding and surfing. The Mackerel Race is a favourite too.
Quench your thirst at the Abersoch Beer Festival in September then run off your hangover at the Abersoch Half Marathon.
In October the RNLI will sponsor a non competitive Bike Ride starting and finishing in the middle of the village. Choose from 4 routes, 40 miles, 30 miles, 15miles or 91/2miles.
November sees a start to the festive season. The Abersoch Christmas Festival with a magical lantern parade and a visit from Santa begins the count down to the big day.
