We are all aware that Wales is a beautiful place and that the people that reside there are lucky. However, in a recent survey which was conducted by Rightmove, residents were asked how happy they were with the aspects of where they live. They were asked how they felt about community spirit, how safe they felt, how friendly people were, the amenities and local services, and if they are earning enough to live comfortably. The winner was Llandrindod Wells which is one of several spa towns across the UK named as some of the happiest places to live. 1 – Llandrindod Wells
Located in Powys, Llandrindod Wells is a thriving town which has evolved from a small farming community. It comes as no surprise that this town has taken the top spot, as here you can find a fantastic sense of community spirit and strives itself on wellness, health and being a location which is extremely family-friendly.
2 – Llandudno
In Llandudno, you will find rows of coloured houses as well as a spectacular waterfront setting including a 19th-century pier that this Welsh town is renowned for. Here, you will find Punch and Judy Shows and donkeys making it the perfect location for visitors and locals alike.
3 – Cardiff
With Cardiff being the capital of Wales, you can find everything you could ever need in this vibrant city, but it also has an added friendliness that you may not find in other cities. With plenty of facilities, including arenas for sports and music events along with places like the Bay, Cardiff Castle, theatres and a vast number of cultural facilities, it is hard to be bored in such an exciting city. Additionally, there are a number of parks and green spaces for a relaxing stroll or picnic away from the hustle and bustle.
4 – Wrexham
Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales and is a location which is steeped in history. It’s near the World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and there are plenty of old buildings to take in while strolling around the town. The town is surrounded by beautiful scenery and has friendly locals.
5 – Newport
Newport is another city which is steeped in history, whether it be Roman, political or musical, it is extremely welcoming for visitors to the area. Newport has some great links to other big cities, making it a fantastic place to live as well as visit. Newport is also home to an impressive new shopping centre, and large community events such as the impressive food festival!
6 – Swansea
Located near our Gower Peninsula holiday cottages, Swansea lies on the sandy coast and boasts great beaches and outstanding places to eat. The Gower Peninsula is known for its spectacular scenery, making it a great place to go walking or cycling when on your holiday.
