Brecon Market Town, Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains
  • The busy historic Cathedral town of Brecon is 5 miles away. Sample the wide variety of eating places -  superb restaurants, small tea rooms, coffee shops and pubs, all offering good quality locally sourced food. Markets are held every Tuesday and Friday.
  • Browse the individually owned interesting shops along the Georgian and Jacobean narrow streets and passage ways.
  • Visit Theatre Brycheiniog (01874 611622), Brecon’s Centre for the Arts, built alongside the canal basin in the heart of Brecon. Check the website for details of its rolling programme of theatre, dance, music and exhibitions. 
  • There are two excellent golf courses in Brecon, Cradoc Golf Course 4 miles and Brecon Golf Course 6 miles. There is also a leisure centre, cinema,  Heritage Centre, Cathedral and a ruined castle.
  • Enjoy cycling along the towpath of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal - lovely scenery, flat cycling terrain and a great place to walk the dog!
Brecon Jazz Festival near riverside holiday cottage
  • Brecon is host to the world famous annual Jazz Festival  -  usually held in August, offering a mix of Great Brits and legendary Jazz stars

Black Mountains Activity Centre
  • The Black Mountains Activity Centre near Brecon offers a wide range of exciting adventure activities from archery to white water rafting and is open 12 months of the year.
Llandeusant Red Kite Feeding Station
  • Over 100 red kites and buzzards are fed daily giving a spectacular aerial display. The purpose-built hide facilitates such a close view that binoculars are not necessary - but do remember your camera! Feeding time in summer is at 3 pm (BST) and in winter at 2 pm (GMT). Park by The Red Kite Cafe & Gift Shop.
Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery
  • Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery is one of the finest and liveliest small museums in Wales. Housed in a beautiful historic building it offers fascinating glimpses into the past. The exhibition programme is on-going, varied and exciting, with much work by contemporary artists living and working in Wales.
The Griffin Inn, Felinfach
  • Seasonal and local ingredients (& from own organic kitchen garden) are used to create delicious simple un-fussy food at this award winning traditional Felinfach Inn.
  • which is also used by horse riders.
Ffrwdgrech Gardens, Ffrwdgrech (between Brecon & Pencelli)
  • Outstandingly beautiful Ffrwdgrech Garden has a cascading stream and waterfall garden created in 1830. Don't let the tongue twisting name put you off.
Brecon Golf Club
  • Brecon Golf Club is a flat 9 hole parkland course with some challenging and unusual holes. Visitors are welcomed every day of the week. Refreshments are available at the club house.
Hay on Wye - Book Town
  • This small busy market town on the border between England and Wales is well worth a visit at any time. A traditional Thursday market is held in Memorial Square. There is a range of restaurants, shops, crafts and book shops for which the town is famous - 30 at the last count - and an annual Literary Festival.
Fishtec Factory Shop, Brecon
  • Keen fisher folk can stock up on all their fishing equipment and accessories at the largest tackle discount warehouse in the UK. There is also an area to practice casting.
Dan yr Ogof Show Caves & Dinosaur Park
  • The National Show caves Centre is well worth a visit. Explore Dan yr Ogof where the Morgan brothers first made their dramatic discovery,  the Cathedral Cave large enough to hold concerts and Bone Cave where 42 Bronze Age human skeletons were found. The vast Dinosaur Park is home to over 200 life sized dinosaurs.
