The Brecon Beacons is a perfect place for a walking holiday, and we have a variety of country holiday cottages to choose from to make your stay extra special. The scenery is spectacular, and footpaths are well sign-posted through rolling green hills, peaceful farmland, magical waterfalls and forests. Serious hikers will enjoy climbing up the 886m Pen y Fan to enjoy breathtaking views from the summit, or walking the distance route 'The Gap', a north–south route through the central Beacons which possibly dates back as far back as Roman times. For a gentler ramble follow the fairly flat path along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, for many interesting heritage sites and easy access. There are many more picnic and walk opportunities around parks, lakes and woodlands such as 'Waterfall country' Pontneddfechan, Craig-y-nos country park and the National Parks Visitors Centre near Libanus. For a cool-off after a long walk on a hot day, find some of the secret Wild Swimming spots dotted around the Brecon Beacons.
