  • This beautiful, unique and elegant country cottage sits in a picturesque cobbled courtyard, once a part of the original stone outbuildings serving Maesllwch Castle home farm.
  • As you enter the hallway with flagstone floor, an air of tranquillity pervades the cottage - just hang your hat up and relax!
  • The welcoming sitting area, off the entrance hall, has a wood burning stove, comfy sofas, TV/DVD and HiFi whilst the dining area has an original quirky range - the whole space enjoys large, triple aspect sash windows with shutters, a beautiful hardwood floor and bespoke furnishings.
  • Two steps lead down to the delightful well-equipped country style kitchen with its original fireplace, range and adequate work and storage space. There are doors leading to the cobbled courtyard and rear terrace. Perfect for entertaining, the well-designed interior is a winning feature of this fantastic cottage
  • Off the first floor spacious landing there are three cool and tranquil bedrooms with quality bespoke furnishings and double height ceilings.
  • The master suite has a king size bed with a bespoke circular window high on the wall behind it. The en-suite is light and bright with a glazed door and 'Juliette' balcony overlooking the rear gardens.
  • Bedroom two has views over the courtyard and a large double bed and Bedroom three is a charming room with twin beds, fabulous oak beams and a Victorian open fireplace.
  • Cobble Cottage guests have the exclusive use of a private sunny decked area in the shared gardens - a lovely spot for al fresco breakfasts or sun downers - there is also a full sized shared 'ping pong' table under an original archway - ideal in all weathers!
  • Neighbouring properties Courtyard, Cobble and Corner Cottages can be booked altogether giving combined accommodation for 20 guests. Courtyard Cottage has a large dining table and enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment to facilitate all. An ideal choice for celebrations and special occasions.

Hay on Wye (5 miles)

    • Hay-on-Wye, just a short trip takes you to this fantastic diverse market town. Ideal for stocking up on deli items and great for browsing.
    • The 'Town of Books' is truly fascinating, There are the famous second-hand bookshops, designer boutiques, a butter market with local produce, antique dealers, retailer's catering for crafts and interiors and a truly charming chandelier shop!
      • The Globe Cinema and Theatre is home to a whole host of eclectic artists and theatrical performances throughout the year.
      • The choice of cafes and restaurants will leave you needing to return time and again . Don't miss Shepherds Ice Cream Parlour, which sells not only delicious ice cream but great coffee and deserts. Felin Fach Griffin gastro pub has an excellent reputation and an evening here is a must (booking recommended), a little further afield is The Stag Inn at Titley, different cuisine and also a must do on any trip to Cobble Cottage .
      • Home to the famous Hay Literary Festival, Hay Walking Festival, the Dark Skies Festival, Hay Bike Festival, you won't be short of annual events to enjoy.
      • The restoration of Hay Castle, a part Norman, Jacobean and Victorian castle in the centre of the town into a lively cultural space is imminent, but for moment you can explore the Castle's grounds and visit the Honesty Bookshop
      • Hire a canoe from the fabulous "River Cafe" in Glasbury, just one mile from Cobble Cottage. Meander down the River, then pick your spot for a picnic lunch on the river bank. River Cafe also offers you the opportunity to hire a Vespa!
      • Richard Booths book shop & caf© is a huge, welcoming space, formerly owned by ‘King of Hay' Richard Booth, it has been restored with aesthetic flair by the new owner, making it arguably one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world. It includes an exceedingly good caf© and a 48 seater cinema for rainy days and evenings out.

      • Learn about Hay's fascinating history and quirky characters with Hay Tours. Throughout the year, local volunteers offer expert talks on four different routes lasting an hour or two. Each one brings Hay's history to life, from medieval times right to the present day

      Small Breeds Farm and Owl Centre Kington

      • Ideal for families, this enchanting place has a huge of miniature, rare and seldom seen animals.

        Red Kite Feeding Station

        • Sit in the specially built hide, feet away from these majestic birds. A sight to behold as 50 birds or more may be seen in the skies at feeding times, their forked tails can be seen high in the sky circling before they dive down to feed.

        Outdoor Activities

        • The diversity of outdoor activities in the area means there is something for everybody within a short drive. Whether it is walking, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, potholing or simply taking a mountain drive you cannot but be amazed at the unspoilt beauty of this part of Wales..

          Hay Bluff and Twmpa, the Black Mountains.

          • Take a full day and walk both, starting from Hay town centre. You'll end up on top of the world, with spectacular views across to Pen-y-Fan.

          Offa's Dyke Path

          • The path runs close to Hay and is a challenging but well worth route, passing some breathtaking scenery along the way.

          Wye Valley Walk

          • This walk extends from Chepstow and crosses the Offa's Dyke Path at Hay, and continues to Rhayader, a total distance of 103 miles. Be amazed by what this quiet area of Wales can offer. The scenery along the walk will reveal unspoilt Mid Wales countryside at every turn.

          Hereford and Llangorse Lake

          • Take a day trip over the border to nearby Hereford, a short drive away, for the magnificent Cathedral, home to the famous Mappa Mundi and now unique Chain Library
          • Sailing on Llangorse Lake is available for all family, or hire a canoe. The unspoilt beauty of this area is beguiling.
