Why you love Wild Hare
This is the perfect getaway for your family/friends. The way the house is designed makes it very comfortable for a large group to stay in. The views are breathtaking and the walks around the house are just spectacular and peaceful. You will enjoy complete privacy as well. We planned a lot of things to do in the area but when we arrived we decided to stay in the house and enjoy the views and the walks around it. It’s also a great spot for star gazing when the sky is clear! We had such a wonderful time and made great memories. I certainly recommend this house and I’ll visit it again if I’m in Wales. We stayed for 4 nights but next time we should stay for a week at least!
Mariam, Abu Dhabi
My family and I stayed in this house for 9 days. Lovely house: new renovation in the house, well equipped kitchen, wonderful hosts. The house has everything you need, and even more, for a wonderful holiday. The house offers stunning views of the mountains. An hour away by car from the house is the county seat, in which you can plunge into the present antiquity. We are very grateful to Juliet for her sincere help in the small extreme situations that happened to us in a foreign country. Will we come back again? Of course!

It’s not just the breathtaking views from the house and grounds…. but the house itself is spectacularly beautiful and stunningly designed. From the windows and gardens you can see the breadth of the east and central Beacons – stretching from Hay Bluff to Pen-y-Fan and beyond and the views from the hill behind – a 10/15 min walk from the house is even more impressive – taking in Herefordshire and stretching into the rolling hills of mid Wales.

The house is vast and it’s not just the combination of vintage and modern furniture and fittings but the detail to the furnishings: the numerous oil paintings, wonderful prints…. the abundance of wool throws for sitting out late at night in the “garden” with a wood fire…. the fresh flowers in every room…. the sumptuous vast en suites …. toiletries….. welcome basket of organic goods…. modern four posters in all the double rooms with wonderful comfy beds….. a kitchen so spacious and well stocked with everything you could possibly need…. including a wine storage/cooler…. we all fell in love with the place and the seclusion and peace was the icing on the cake….. the only sounds were the birds and sheep.

We were there for a long weekend to take part in the Brecon fell races….. and had planned to tour around the villages and sample the restaurants in Hay…. but we so loved the place that we spent most of our time (apart from running up mountains!) in the house and sat outside relaxing with a few well earned drinks. It was magical at night with a full moon and log fire (there is a fire pit and iron burner with stacks of logs provided).

And last but not least the hugely generous and lovely owners, who live nearby with their gorgeous dog “Schmoo”(sp?!) – who made us feel so welcome and wanted us to fully enjoy everything / all the wonderful things the house has to offer… .and it has them in abundance.

We had a wonderful weekend at this gorgeous house. All the rooms are beautifully decorated, bathrooms are stunning and the kitchen is to die for. The views are fantastic and it is in such a peaceful location. Juliette was a lovely host and extremely helpful. We would not hesitate to go back.

An amazing house! Immaculately clean with wonderful interiors and incredible views. Attention to detail was outstanding such as fresh flowers in all rooms, organic toiletries and a quality hamper and much more. The location was utterly peaceful and tranquil with access to a vast common land at your doorstep. Juliette the owner was very friendly and helpful and we felt at home immediately on our arrival. Ardderchog (Excellent) Rhagorol (Splendid) Arbennig (Special).

We were looking for somewhere quiet and private for the family to gather for a few days… but it needed to be very comfortable and top of my list was a big kitchen where we could prepare meals but all be together without getting under each other’s feet. Then we are rather partial to log fires and are also pretty fussy about large and lovely bathrooms… and not sharing them!

So with a big wish list I was very excited to find Wild Hare which ticked all the boxes, we quickly booked it up,

When we arrived our expectations were pretty high… so we were blown away to find that it was everything we had dared hoped and so much more. It’s perfect. The views are stunning, the house feels like home the moment you step through the door. It’s fantastically well equipped… in the huge kitchen you will find everything you could possibly need. The lounge is a great chill space, great to relax after dinner chatting, watching movies, playing games while throwing logs into the wood burner. All bedrooms have great ensuite bathrooms, with underfloor heating of course to keep your toes toastie on the beautiful limestone floors.

I could write a book but if you’re reading this hopefully you get it by now! A massive thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Wild Hare. Although blessed with great weather, the views and the property would be enjoyable in any season. No detail has been spared by the owners who have restored this cottage lovingly. Everything is beautifully chosen and curated to give you all the comforts of a boutique hotel – wonderful greeting hamper, fresh wild flowers on every table, copious luxurious linen – it’s a real treat for all ! The kitchen is superb and well equipped – we even cancelled our dinner reservations as cooking was so pleasurable there and the fire pit was brilliant for marshmallow toasting with the kids for dessert. The walking is spectacular and Hay is only a stones throw away. Can’t recommend this spot and this house enough – we will definitely be returning.
Charlotte S
We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect place to spend our family Christmas. Welcomed with a delightful hamper full of deli treats, Wild Hare exceeded all our expectations, with beautiful décor, immaculate furnishings and the most tranquil location. Everywhere was fresh and clean and the kitchen in particular was fantastic – incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and I’m sure we’ll return.
