Anglesey holiday cottage near Beaumaris

  • Wind your way through leafy lanes bordered by beautiful farmland to Blue Cottage, the middle cottage in the small exclusive terrace of Underwood Cottages - set in one of the prettiest parts of Anglesey.
  • Cosy and comfortable throughout the year and a perfect base from which to explore Anglesey, Blue Cottage is simply furnished with ground floor accommodation.  Next to the open-plan living area are two bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.
  • Enjoy spectacular views over the fields towards Snowdonia, listen to birdsong and as you explore the quiet lanes that surround the cottages. Soak in the atmosphere of unsurpassed tranquillity - hedgerows brimming with  primroses and bluebells in spring, masses of cow parsley in summer and succulent blackberries in Autumn.
  • There is also a communal area with benches and a fire pit in the top field by the farmhouse - the views from here are just beautiful.

Location

Walk to pet friendly Llanddona village inn from this charming Anglesey holiday cottage.
  • The family run Owain Glyndwr serves good pub food and real ales in the bar and restaurant. Well behaved pet dogs are welcome.

Beaches

  • Llanddon Beach is  2 miles away - your nearest beach - a lovely long expanse of sand with fine views over to the mainland. Further up the coast is the famous Red Wharf Bay and beyond that Benllech - another popular sandy beach.
  • This east of the island has many sandy beaches compared with the western side where they are more rugged but ideal for windsurfing.  The  most popular is Rhosneigr - one of the best surfing bays in Britain.

Walks and the Coastal Path

  • At the back of Underwood Cottages there is a public walk to the nearby pub in Llandonna (Owain Glyndwr Inn), it takes about 35 minutes and has wonderful views looking back.
  • The coastal path can be joined at many different places along the coastline and has a varied terrain over rocky clifftops. Llsten to the cries of guillemots, razorbills and the variety of seabirds that nest on the cliff sides - in quiet weather look down onto the sea and spot dolphins swimming in the still waters.
  • There are also woodland walks to enjoy - Afon Lleiniog Woodlands which link with the Coastal Path at Lleiniog Beach, passing Aberlleiniog Castle in the woods - which pre-dates Beaumaris Castle.

Beaumaris

  • The Norman French builders of Beaumaris Castle in the 13th Century named the town (beautiful marsh) in English. It is in a stunning location right on the edge of Menai Strait.
  • Candy coloured Georgian and Victorian townhouses border the  high street with its eclectic assortment of good restaurants and little independent shops - the best fish and chips can be found here at 'The Neptune'

Plas Newydd House and Gardens (NT)

  • Set on the shores of the Menai Strait with breathtaking scenery and spectacular views of Snowdonia, this is the home of the Marquis of Anglesey .
  • The house is the height of elegance, the formal rooms have large murals painted by Rex Whistler, a friend of the family, and is also home to an  interesting military museum full of mementos of the battle of  Waterloo in which the First Marquis lost a leg.
  • Enjoy the beautiful grounds - a fine spring garden with mature shrubs and wild flowers, masses of blue hydrangeas in late summer and bright autumn colours in the woodlands.

Caernarfon Castle

  • This is an awe inspiring  World Heritage Site - a brute of a fortress which can still intimidate. This massive structure, built by Edward I, must surely be one of the most impressive castles in Britain. Children will enjoy racing around the ramparts, peering through arrow slits and looking down at the grim dungeons!

Zip World, Snowdonia

Hurtle around the forest on a Fforest Coaster ride.
  • While in Snowdonia challenge yourself to walking up Snowdon or go the easy way by Snowdon Mountain Train (booking advisable) from Llanberis.
