Description

Pet friendly Anglesey holiday cottage with WiFi, close to Beaumaris
  • This delightful, simply furnished cottage is set in a spectacular location with views across to Snowdonia.
  • The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a twin on the ground floor with its own bathroom and a bedroom on the 1st floor with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom.
  • The cosy, comfortable open plan ground floor has doors opening onto a spacious balcony overlooking woodlands and well tended fields - wonderful for al fresco meals.  Stroll round the sloping lawns which surround the cottage or picnics under the trees.
  • Explore the little lanes around the cottage for unbeatable tranquillity - hedgerows with primroses and bluebells in spring, awash with cow parsley in summer and perfect for blackberrying in the Autumn.
  • There is also a communal area with benches and a fire pit in the top field by the Farmhouse - the views from here are just beautiful.

Location

Village Inn, the Owain Glyndwr
  • The local family run Llanddona village inn, just a stroll away from the cottage, serves real ales, good pub food and welcomes dogs.

Beaches

  • Only 2 miles away is spectacular Llanddona Beach with its miles of pristine sands and lovely views across to the mainland.  A short drive takes you to Benllech's sandy shores and glorious Red Wharf Bay.
  • Lligwy Beach, further along the coast, is perfect for children with lots of rock pools to enjoy and explore.
  • Newborough Beach and Nature Reserve is possibly one of Wales's best beaches with stunning views to Snowdonia.
  • Visit the little lighthouse on Llanddwyn Island (only accessible  at low tide) with its beautifully carved pine gates at the entrance to this romantic little island.

Walks and the Coastal Path

  • At the back of Underwood Cottages there is a public walk to the nearby pub in Llandonna (Owain Glyndwr Inn), it takes about 35 minutes and has wonderful views looking back.
  • Join the Coastal Path at any point along the coast and explore sandy bays, rocky outcrops, woodlands and pasture. Look out for the seabirds that colonise the cliffs and dolphins that swim close to shore in quiet weather.
Penmon Point
  • Walk from here to the beach, gloriously wild with views across the Strait to Puffin Island, Conwy Sands and Snowdonia and explore the ancient church, monastic ruins and lighthouse beyond.

Beaumaris

  • Surely the prettiest town in North Wales with its handsome High Street lined with elegant Georgian and Victorian town houses.  At the end of the High Street is Beaumaris's impressive thirteenth century moated castle.
  • There is an eclectic mixture of independent shops and restaurants - do visit the Janet Bell Gallery for pretty gifts. Wander along the Victorian pier that stretches out over the waters of the beautiful Strait and enjoy fish and chips in the excellent chip shop on the high street.

Places to eat

  • Lots  of new restaurants have opened all over the island the best of which are Marram Grass in Newborough - don't be put off by the shed-like building - the food is superb and is in the 2016 Good Food Guide! Dylan's Restaurant on the water's edge at Menai Bridge is also excellent - booking is advisable for both.

Plas Newydd Manor and Gardens (NT)

  • A Gothic mansion set in a dramatic location with gardens running down to the water's edge - lovely grounds and woodlands to explore and lots to entertain children including a  tree house and  games in the woods.
  • The Interesting interior has large murals in the formal rooms by Rex Whistler who was a friend of the Marquis and his family.
  •  Take a boat trip from here to go under the two terrific bridges that straddle the Menai Strait - Thomas Telford's elegant suspension bridge and Robert Stephenson's mighty Victorian two-tier road and rail bridge.
Halen Mon Salt
  • A must for gourmets. Natural Halen Mon salt crystals are produced on the edge of the scenic Menai Strait and valued by cooks and chefs around the world. Take a tour and visit the on site store for delicious products made with Halen Mon and a variety of gifts.
Pili Palas
  • A magical day out for the whole family, come rain or shine. Anglesey's Nature World is packed with butterflies, birds, pets and all sorts of other exotic creatures as well as under cover play areas, cafe and shop.
Surf Snowdonia
  • An adventure park with a difference. Surf Snowdonia is an inland lagoon with an awesome artificial wave for thrilling surfing experiences suitable for beginners and professionals.

Zip World, Snowdonia

  • Go across onto the mainland and explore Snowdonia.  You might walk up Mount Snowdon itself or enjoy a 'flying' experience on Zip Wire - a hugely popular new attraction in the Bethesda quarry.  It has the fastest and longest zip line in the world reaching speeds of 100 mph - not for the faint hearted or anyone with a nervous disposition but great fun! Bounce Below is a subterranean thrill. Huge trampolines are strung across underground caverns and lit with multi coloured neon lights for an out of this world experience. Fforest Coasters run on a rail that weaves its way through the trees on a thrilling toboggan experience without the snow. Treetop Nets give you a whole new view of the world. Explore the canopy of Douglas Firs 60' from the ground. Nets are strung in the treetops and connected by the longest net walkway in the world.
