Guide to The Menai Bridge and Strait
Our Menai Bridge and Strait holiday cottages are located close to the Menai Strait, a 25km long stretch of shallow tidal water that separates the popular seaside resort of Anglesey to the mainland of Wales. These areas of land have been connected by the Menai Bridge for centuries, with the Menai Suspension Bridge opening on the 30th January 1826 after seven years of construction. The stronger Britannia Bridge later being added, in 1850, to allow for railway traffic across the Strait. Visitors to the Menai Strait can leisurely enjoy sailing pursuits. Keen sailors should visit during the Menai Strait Regatta, consisting of two weeks of races, competitions and fun-filled events, that takes place during the summer months.
