Beaches

  • There are lovely beaches to enjoy throughout the island - to mention just a few:
  • Just beyond Beaumaris are three - magical White Beach, historic Penmon Beach and Lleiniog Beach which has stunning views across to the mainland.
  • Llanddona Beach a few miles northward has miles of sands, is popular with families and ideal for canoeing, fishing and sailing.
  • On the western side is Rhosneigr - sandy beaches and a great surfing destination; Cable Bay (Porth Trecastell) is particularly good for surfing with massive southerly swells; Newburough Beach and Llanddwyn Island have miles of pristine sands from LLanddwyn Island to the southern tip of Anglesey and form one of the finest beaches in Britain with dramatic mountain views, clean clear water, woods and mythology. Enjoy the little lighthouse on the island and admire the enchanting carved gate at the entrance. (Note the island is only accessible at low tide).

Beaumaris

  • Possibly the most lovely town in North Wales with a romantic castle surrounded by a moat, pretty candy-coloured Georgian and Victorian town houses and a few dating back to medieval times.
  • The town is full of lovely independent shops and restaurants. Do visit the Janet Bell Gallery which is owned by a renowned local artist and is full of lovely bric a brac.
  • Walk along the Victorian Pier to enjoy the stunning views of the Menai Strait.

Boat Trips

  • Boats leave from the pier in Beaumaris and Porth Daniel in the town of Menai Bridge to cruise the beautiful Menai Strait, explore off shore islands, observe rich wildlife and see fascinating historic sites.

Newborough Warren Nature Reserve

  • This is a birdwatcher paradise with 'hides', ideal for quiet observation, strategically placed throughout the forest, often near small lakes. Look out for red squirrels which thrive on Anglesey, the greys now having been almost completely eradicated.

Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path

  • This can be joined at Menai Bridge where the path goes under the elegant suspension bridge. The path circles the whole island and is an ideal way to explore the diverse coastline.

Moelfre Lifeboat Station

  • Discover the remarkable bravery of Moelfre's lifeboat men through the ages. Explore their new state of the art station and look over the lifeboats. The annual open day held every August is a wonderful family friendly event with entertainment including a spectacular exercise launch.

Penmon Priory and Holy Well

  • Walk along the Penmon Peninsula surrounded by fabulous coastal views and explore the atmospheric ruins of 13th century Penmon Priory and Holy Well cared for by CADW.

Plas Newydd House and Gardens (NT)

  • A Gothic manor house in a beautiful setting right on the edge of the Menai Strait. There are gently sloping lawns, dotted with beautiful trees and shrubs and surrounded by woodlands - this is a garden to explore and enjoy. Recently renovated, the house gives a glimpse into a bygone age and the life of it's eccentric owners.

Anglesey Riding Centre

  • Explore Anglesey on horse back via quiet private coastal bridleways. Experience breathtaking views of Caernarfon Castle and Snowdonia.

Restaurants

  • A recently flowering of good eateries has sprung up all over the island.
  • The nearby Gazelle Hotel is an easy walk from the house and the food is good!
  • Ye Olde Bull's Head in Beaumaris, close to this property, has an excellent brasserie perfect for lunch or dinner. Upstairs is the more exclusive Loft restaurant -open only in the evenings and booking is advisable.
  • In Menai Bridge Dylan's, situated right on the Strait and close to the suspension bridge, serves locally caught fish and seafood. Located in the heart of Menai Bridge and within a historical Butcher's Shop, the Old Butcher's offers a different dining experience to most and has recently been awarded a Michelin Star.
  • Try Marram Grass in Newborough which has made it into the 2016 Good Food Guide and is the latest foodie destination.
  • Also in Menai Bridge there is an excellent Waitrose

Family Fun

  • The Isle of Anglesey has a wealth of activities and attractions to appeal to all ages. Spend a leisurely hour in the paddling pool on the waterfront in Beaumaris, visit Anglesey Sea Zoo and Halen Mon (sea salt producers) in Brynsiencyn, explore Newborough Warren Nature Reserve, discover Llanddwyn Island once home of St Dwynwen the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers, try surfing at Rhosneigr one of north Wales' premier surfing locations, equipment and tuition available locally, visit Llynnon Mill and reconstructed Iron Age round houses at Llandeusant, discover Copper Kingdom and the unique landscape of Parys Mountain at Amlwch. Visit the visually impressive Beaumaris's Castle and so much more.
