What a fantastic place to stay, what you see in the pictures is what you get. The cottages was beautiful, so clean, fresh and very nice decor. The owners were very accommodating, phoned me prior to setting off to inform me of road works and gave me alternative directions, helped me with my luggage, showed us a local map that they had highlighted places to eat, places of interest and left a lovely welcome pack and bottle of prosecco. Would highly recommend to family and friends.

Our second visit to Stabal Plas Marian and will definitely not be the last. We have travelled all over the island and enjoyed fantastic weather. Recommend the Liverpool arms Beaumaris for an excellent Sunday lunch. Stabal a perfect bae. Mal most welcoming and everything perfect for our stay. Hope to be back next year.

We’re so pleased this accommodation was available for our stay in Anglesey. The cottage was a great base and was finished to a high standard. Mal and Di were very friendly and welcoming. We will return in future and would highly recommend it here!

Walks and Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path

  • Walk or cycle down the quiet tree lined lane from the property passing the ancient church of Trefdraeth to Malltraeth and follow the well signposted cycle/footpath across the estuary to Newborough Forest Nature Reserve.
  • This forest is a birdwatchers paradise with 'hides' placed in the woods, some by small lakes ideal for quiet observation. Look out for the red squirrels - Anglesey has almost completely eradicated the greys from the island so that the reds now thrive.
  • Stabal is near Sustrans Cycle Route 8, Lon Las cycle route along the Cefni river and close to the Isle of Anglesey coastal path.

Beaches

  • Aberffraw is only a short drive away and has a sublime beach and estuary with the popular resorts of Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay further up the coast.
  • Llanddwyn Island and Newborough Beach have miles of pristine sands. From Llanddwyn Island (anglesey-history.co.uk) to the southern tip of Anglesey forms one of the finest beaches in Britain. Dramatic mountain views, clean clear water, woods and mythology.
  • Llanddwyn Island is a 20 minute walk from the car park and inaccessible at high tide. Enjoy the white washed little church and small lighthouse.

Restaurants

  • The owners recommend Marram Grass at Newborough. This is a New entry in the 2016 Good Food Guide and is run by two young brothers. They pride themselves on their use of local produce - locals even bring in homegrown vegetables in exchange for restaurant vouchers!
  • Eat in or take away huge portions of delicious freshly cooked fish and chips from village chippy The Codmother in Newborough. Customers are prepared travel some distance to enjoy them.
  • At Menai Bridge you can enjoy Dylan's or Harri's restaurants. They produce some tasty treats to enjoy. The Olde Bull's Head at Beaumaris has a lovely bistro open at lunch time and in the evenings. The Loft Dining Room (open evenings only, booking advisable).
  • At Menai Bridge there is also a Waitrose and an Asda store at Llangefni. Essentials can be bought at the village store and post office 1 mile away.

Oriel Ynys M n

  • Llangefni is home to Anglesey's art gallery that exhibits works by renowned Welsh artists. It also houses a permanent exhibition of paintings donated to the gallery by Sir Kyffin Williams R.A. who lived and worked on the Island. In the history gallery, a part of it is dedicated to one of the foremost wildlife artists of the twentieth century - Charles Tunnicliffe who donated priceless works to the Island and lived 2 miles from this holiday cottage.

Family Days Out

  • Nothing could be more fun for children than the Greenwood Forest Park on the mainland. Enjoy the scary green dragon roller coaster, rowing down the stream or building dens and watching magic by the performers employed at the centre.
  • Llynnon Mill further up on the north coast of Anglesey has the only working windmill left on the island. Families will enjoy watching bread being baked in the traditional way. In the woods are re-constructed pre-historic roundhouses to fire the imagination of young and old to what life might have been like here 3,000 years ago!

Plas Newydd (NT)

  • Sitting on the edge of the Menai Strait, this is a delight for keen gardeners. Art lovers will be fascinated by the Rex Whistler murals inside the house.

Cybi Bike Hire based in Holyhead

  • Bikes can be hired from Cybi in Holyhead or from one of their other hubs at Caffi Mon, Breakwater Country Park, Caffi Ffynnon in Holyhead, or Llys Llewelyn, Abberfraw and Holyhead Train Station. Ride with your own party or join a Cybi Guided Tour.
