Shore Cottage, Wow what can we say, what a fantastic place to stay.

From the drive along the beach you know you're in for a secluded getaway.

Having stayed in Shore cottage before the renovation works were done we can't believe it's the same place. The level of finish and standard of accommodation is just simply outstanding. Under floor heating throughout the ground floor makes it always lovely and warm.

The views, the views! From the main living area the views are never the same and are simply breathtaking. From early morning all the way through to the end of the day we found ourselves sometimes just sitting looking out onto the beach, watching the changing sky from rainbows to bright glorious blue skies what a view! It is so magical to be able to just pop our boots on and set off walking on the beach. We ventured out around the island experiencing beautiful walks but we must say you can't beat the bay!

The hot tub was simply amazing, to be outside in warm temperature water (while hailing) looking out across the hills with a glass of Prosecco in hand, we couldn't of wished for a more relaxing and scrumptious stay.

Shore Cottage is now so spacious, which was in fact amazing as we stayed with extended family and were able to congregate, have lovely meals together at the dining table yet if you wanted some time out we could go off to our separate area of the house and enjoy some time to ourselves. There is an amazing central kitchen to cook up some delights, loved the ESSE cooking Range. The bedrooms are more than spacious with walk in showers!

Just simply amazing place to stay, glorious views fantastic accommodation we can't wait to book again. A house for all seasons What a treat!

Beaches and Coastal Path

  • 100 metres walk along the coastal path in front of the house is an easy stroll away and a lovely safe sandy beach. Take the coastal path onward around the headland to Llanddona beach which has a wide expanse of sand and safe bathing. A short drive up the coast is Benllech with a popular sandy beach small children will enjoy the rock pools at low tide and dogs will love the freedom. Drive up to the small seaside village of Moelfre much like a small Cornish village and enjoy the fine view with the lovely Lligwy beach beyond. Explore different areas of the Coastal Path recommended is the walk around Porth Eilean near Amlwch a pretty secluded little bay with a rugged coastline and spectacular views.

Din Lligwy pre historic site

  • Walk across the fields to this evocative site of stone round and rectangular houses well preserved where walls rise waist high and door lintels still standing. With trees dancing in the wind and complete absence of modern buildings nearby its deeply atmospheric on a summer's evening - well worth a visit.

  • One of the loveliest locations right on the Menai Strait with its mixture of Georgian and Victorian houses, independent shops, romantic castle surrounded by a moat and long pier to enjoy the views across the Strait onto the Snowdon Massif.

Snowdonia National Park

  • Shore Cottage is a great base from which to explore the beauty of Wales' largest national Park.
  • Take a train ride to the summit of Snowdonia - the star of the National Park. It is the highest mountain in England and Wales. For the more energetic you could walk to the top. Whichever way you choose to get to the top, it will be an unforgettable experience!

Plas Newydd (National Trust)

  • Set overlooking the Menai Strait and across to Snowdonia and with the mighty Britannia Bridge in the foreground. Beautiful rolling lawns dotted with mature beech and lime trees with a riot of colours in Spring of magnolias, azaleas and hydrangea in Summer, woodland walks with tree houses and play areas. The manor house is also interesting with memorabilia of the battle of Waterloo where the 1st Marquis of Anglesey lost his leg and large wall murals by Rex Whistler a friend of the family.

Places to Eat

  • Close by on the headland at Red Wharf Bay is The Boathouse Restaurant which is excellent plus the Ship Inn next door for a pint and a delicious Sunday lunch. Down in Menai Bridge is Dylan's restaurant in a beautiful spot on the water's edge (booking advisable). In Menai Bridge stock up at Waitrose or head for Beaumaris where there are excellent shops a superb butchers and bakery. Enjoy a meal at Anglesey's premier hotel The Bull lunch in their brasserie a drink in their traditional bar with a roaring fire or book dinner in The Loft restaurant.

  • Just beyond Beaumaris at Henllys Hall, is the Princes Golf Club with a lovely course dotted with oak trees and views across the Menai Strait. Up the coast beyond Amlwch is Bull Bay Golf Club with a challenging course set above the rugged coastline.

Newborough Nature Reserve and Llanddwyn Island

  • Set beyond Plas Newydd on the western side of the island is this amazing nature reserve, a birdwatchers paradise with hides hidden amongst the pine woods, look out for the red squirrel which thrive on the island and walk along fabulous Newborough beach to Llanddwyn Island and the little lighthouse at the end.

Days away

  • The glorious Snowdonia National Park is within easy reach and well worth a day or two of exploration. Enjoy stunning scenery, thrilling adventure activities such as Zip World, Bounce Below and Surf Snowdonia, steam train rides, historic houses, mighty castles, majestic mountains, pretty mountain villages, industrial heritage, local produce, thriving gardens and more.

Enjoy year round holidays in this luxurious home with hot tub in an unparalleled coastal location right on the shore line of Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey
