About The Area

Rhosneigr

  • This quaint and picturesque seaside village is a much sought after destination all year round and it is easy to see why. The beach here is a one of the best on the island attracting lovers of many different water sports such as kite surfing, windsurfing, surfing, sailing and diving. Lessons are available in the village at The Funsport shop for those who want to try something different.
  • Rhosneigr offers an array of interesting shops, cafes, restaurants and wine bars – all within walking distance. Specialising in fresh, local produce, try the Rhosneigr Lobster at Sandy's Bistro or pop in for a coffee or glass of wine at Sullivan's restaurant, or stay for their popular 8 oz Burger made from local Anglesey Steak. The Oystercatcher at the entrance of Rhosneigr is a modern stylish restaurant set in the sand dunes - lovely for dining out on summer evenings.
  • Golf lovers will enjoy Anglesey Golf Club in Rhosneigr - an 18 hole links course.

Beaches

  • Walk straight across the road to the main beach a long sandy sweeping bay with dramatic views towards Snowdonia and the Rivals on the Lleyn Peninsula. Spend time watching or participating in the water sports, or enjoy the delightful sunsets here.
  • There are 2 other beaches close by - Cymaran Beach ideal for walking dogs and quieter Broad Beach. Further north on Holy Island there is Porth Dafarch - a beautiful sandy cove sheltered by rocky cliffs, safe for swimming and paddling, kayaking and snorkeling. Join The Coastal Path northwards toward South Stack a birdwatchers paradise with RSPB centre and lighthouse.

Anglesey Coastal Path

  • The Anglesey Coastal Path consists of a 128 mile circular path around the Isle of Anglesey. Walk the Coastal Path from Rhosneigr to Abberffraw - passing a Neolithic burial chamber, Ynys Môn Racing Track, the church in the sea at Langwyfan before arriving at the beautiful beach of Aberffraw.

Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Beach

  • Visit one of the most popular attractions on Anglesey – a well-signposted network of paths criss-cross the woodland which has the largest population of red squirrels on the island. Llanddwyn Island, walk along Newborough Beach southward on one of the finest expanses of sand in Britain with incredible views across to Snowdonia. At low tide cross over to the little lighthouse on the romantic Llanddwyn Island.

Good Places to Eat

  • There has been a flowering of new places to eat recently. Marram Grass at Newborough has made it into 2016 Good Food Guide and in Menai Bridge Dylan's Restaurant, situated just below the suspension bridge right on the beautiful Menai Straits, serves freshly caught seafood. Sosban & The Old Butchers Restaurant has no menu instead the chef conjures up a series of dishes using best sourced local produce available each day. Also in Menai Bridge is a Waitrose. In Beaumaris, Ye Olde Bulle's Head is a long established and consistently superb bistro and Loft dining room (booking advisable) for the latter.

Plas Newydd (NT)

  • For a great day out, Plas Newydd is a short drive away. Set right on the edge of the Menai Strait, explore the beautiful grounds and enjoy the stunning interiors and Rex Whistler murals. The star of the show here is the Strait -with views across to high peaks of Snowdonia and the mighty Britannia Bridge in the background.
Beaumaris
  • The prettiest town in North Wales with its candy coloured townhouses - Georgian and Victorian, romantic ruined castle, excellent stylish independent shops for treats and presents and long Victorian pier from which to enjoy the Straits.

Anglesey Sea Zoo

  • A great all weather attraction for young families featuring over 150 native marine species.

Snowdonia National Park

  • The whole of Ynys Mon (Isle of Anglesey) can be easily explored from this quality cottage and the Snowdonia National Park is within easy reach across the Telford and Stephenson bridges from this holiday home on Anglesey. Enjoy a trip on the historic Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Lovely place to spend Christmas week. We had brilliant walks down to the beach each morning with some impressive waves and kitesurfing to watch. Brilliant walks around Moelfre, Menai Bridge and the lake by the Oyster Catcher. House was very cosy over Christmas and very kind of you to leave a Christmas tree and decorations. Merry Christmas and Happy 2018!

What a beautiful corner of the world! We could easily set up campat Sound of the Sea foor much longer than a week - indeed how could we ever get enough walks along the beautiful beaches!

The house has almost everything one needs for a beach holiday. The village meets basic needs (we recommend Oyster Catcher and Mojo's for meals - and Sea Shanty Cafe in Trearddur.

We filled the week and enjoyed every minute. Lovely to be able to bring our puppy along to discover the beach too! Thank you for making your beach hut available - we hope we will be back!
