Guide to Trefor:
Perhaps the most treasured quality of this unusual village is its extraordinary views
of the renowned Llyn Peninsula. Travelers are spoilt with a number of sheltered
beaches, made up of sand and pebbles, and, of course, those idyllic coastal
landscapes Gwynedd is famous for.
The village’s origins began from the local granite quarries, which turned the small
harbour into a busy hub for shipping granite across the entirety of Europe. During
this time of increased activity, the grand pier, which stretches to around 200m into
the sea, was built. Nowadays, this spot is particularly liked by fishermen, whilst the
inner harbour is decorated with a little boat or two.
Close to the village is the Clynnog Fawr, an ancient Church which is credited as a
major site along the Pilgrim Route to Bardsey Island.
