Criccieth

Try the fish and chips opposite Cadwaladers renowned ice cream parlour both on Castle street. The ruined Criccieth Castle on the hillside dominates the small town. It captivated the artist JMW Turner who painted it in the early 19th Century.

Boat Trips

Once a place of pilgrimage the island is now cherished for its tranquility, outstanding natural beauty and wonderful wildlife.

Penarth Fawr

  • Explore the country lanes near the farmhouse and find Penarth Fawr a rare example of a completely untouched medieval house no fireplace, the smoke from the fire in the centre of the room would escape through a hole in the roof - very sooty!

Llanystumdwy

  • Join the coast path at the water's edge of Criccieth then turn inland along the river banks and rural lanes to the village of Llanystumdwy where there is a museum to David Lloyd George our first and last Welsh prime minister who lived here throughout his childhood.
