Thank you for a wonderful week's stay at Ty Criccieth. We've had a relaxing time, despite the efforts of Storm Gareth! Beautiful walks and great eats out..... what more could you ask for. Thanks for all the great tips and advice on things to do and places to go. Just relaxing in the apartment has been a treat in itself. Look forward to visiting again in the future.

We have had a great week with excellent weather. The apartment is absolutely lovely and in an excellent location. We enjoyed breakfast at Number 46 Cafe, meals at Poachers, Dylans and the Castle Fish & Chips bar. Lots to see and do in the area.

Thank you Dom and Quality Cottages, we have had a lovely weekend break and so lucky with the weather. Dylans is so good. morning coffee at Ffin y Parc was amazing. Just so many wonderful places to visit in a beautiful area. The flat is so well equipped. I particularly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and family.

A lovely apartment both to inhabit, and from which to explore the beautiful area on foot, by rail, bus and ferry at Barmouth. We used the car only twice! Thank you.

Criccieth shops and restaurants

  • The delights of Criccieth are on your doorstep! Step out from the apartment onto the High Street where there is a wealth of independent shops - an excellent butchers and bakers just across the road plus a superb fishmongers and vegetable shop. For good restaurants try Dylan's on the beach a stunning art deco building designed by local architect and creator of Portmeirion, Clough William Ellis. Recommended by the owners of this property are Poachers Restaurant and No.46 Tea Rooms. The famous Cadwalladers ice cream and fish and chip shop close to the castle should not be overlooked!

Criccieth Festival

  • This has evolved over the years to become an important date in Wales' cultural calendar. Held in the middle of June it has a programme of music, literature and lectures.

Coastal Path

  • Join the Coastal Path at the western end of town - it closely follows the clifftop before turning inwards passing the village of Llanystumdwy. Well worth visiting is the Lloyd George Museum. The path then becomes a wooded riverside walk back to Criccieth.

  • There are 2 lovely beaches in Criccieth itself plus a wealth of others close by. Porthmadog's little known hamlet of Borth y Gest has many intimate little coves and sandy bays with stunning views across to Harlech. Black Rock sands is a huge expanse of beach which can be driven onto and is 2 miles from Porthmadog town centre.

Caernarfon Castle and Victoria Dock

  • Visit the huge imposing castle at Caernarfon built by the fearsome Edward I and marvel at the Medieval craftsmanship. Also at Caernarfon is the Victoria Dock with shops and cafes overlooking the marina. Bookworms with delight in Palas Prints one of Britain's best independent book shops which brilliantly combines English and Welsh language books - Curl up with a good read when you get back to this delightful apartment for two.

The Lleyn Peninsula and a day trip to Bardsey Island

  • Criccieth is the gateway to this region of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' The Coastal Path comes into its own here enjoy the sublime views and fine display of seabirds, dolphins, flora and fauna. There are pretty villages such as Aberdaron and Abersoch on the path. Visitors grow to love the unique character of this remote peninsula.
  • Boats leave regularly (weather permitting) from Porth Meudwy near Aberdaron to visit Bardsey, once a place of pilgrimage. it was said three pilgrimages to Bardsey equalled one to Rome. Now the island is visited for its natural beauty, wealth of wildlife and historic interest.

Days away

  • Visit the nearby Snowdonia National Park to experience the outstanding coastal and mountain scenery, numerous beautiful beaches, nostalgic steam train rides, the Snowdon Mountain Railway, thrilling adventure activities, fascinating industrial heritage, great local produce and so much more. Bounce Below is in the heart of the old slate mine - huge trampoline nets are set in 2 vast chambers linked together by walkways and slides. Advance booking advisable.Surf Snowdonia Newly opened in the Conwy Valley this is going to be a hugely popular attraction - 300 meter lagoon which can produce two meter high waves which surfing enthusiasts will love.
