A wonderful 'get together' house with the most peaceful views of the bay. We've enjoyed great weather for this time of year meaning we could enjoy the coast and wake boarding! Lovely coastal walks. Thank you to Gill & Nigel for helping with the change over mid week. Really helpful house keepers. Hope to be back enjoying the house with family and friends again. Many thanks.

About the Area
Coastal Path and Porthdinllaen
  • This part of the walk is one of the journey's gems. The rocky promontory of Porthdinllaen descends down into the little hamlet now owned by the National Trust but which was once a smugglers cove, well hidden from the preying eyes! Enjoy a drink at one of Wales's most iconic pubs The Ty Coch, voted the 3rd most popular beach bar in the world!
  • Proceed along the path, blanketed in wild flowers in the Spring and with fine views of coves and mountains and look out for the seals basking and swimming close to shore in good weather. Look out too for the red legs and beaks of the chough which nests on the cliffs and is the emblem of the Lleyn Peninsula - an area recognised as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Fantastic Beaches of the Lleyn Peninsula
  • Step out onto Morfa Nefyn beach and wander across the shoreline at low tide to Porthdinllaen or dip down to many of the quiet coves dotted along the coastal path.
  • A short drive away are the famous Whistling Sands where children will be delighted to hear that the sands really do whistle! Visit the popular beaches of Aberdaron, Abersoch and Llanbedrog or try wind surfing at Hell's Mouth - a huge wild bay and a wonderful stretch of sand.
  • Nefyn Golf Club is situated on the headland just above Porthdinllaen. Its dramatic location makes it the most photographed course in Wales and a must for any serious golfer - or anyone with a set of golf clubs looking for a challenge!
Eating Out on the Lleyn
  • Adjacent to the house is the recently refurbished Cliffs Inn.
  • Just up the road from the golf club is the Porthdinllaen Cafe - pop in for fisherman's breakfast or try Americana - bacon, banana and maple syrup, or just pop in for morning coffee.
  • The Ship gastro pub at Edern, a mile away, is also excellent and the Bryncynan Arms good value and open throughout the year.
  • Abersoch has great eating places and for a flavour of the Abersoch 'set' enjoy Sunday lunch at the Porth Tocyn Hotel which has been in The Good Food Guide since the late 1950's.
  • Shop just up the road at Pit Stop which will supply all your needs including locally sourced meat and freshly caught fish. Stock up on food for your beach picnic - try their 'bara brith' (a traditional Welsh fruit loaf), homemade Quiches or freshly made Pizzas.
Glyn y Weddw Art Gallery
  • This is Wales's oldest art gallery and is set in a lovely Victorian manor house surrounded by beautiful grounds. Open throughout the year it has regularly changing exhibitions of renowned artists from all part of Wales. Concerts and recitals are often held in the imposing hallway and a small amphitheatre has been built in the grounds for summer plays and concert - sublime on balmy evenings.
