Guide to Nefyn
Nestled alongside the picturesque village of Morfa Nefyn, this quaint seaside town holds an intriguing historic backstory. During the 12th-century, Nefyn was one of the most important trading towns in Wales and thrived due to its boat-building industry; whilst from the 16th-century to the 19th-century, the town became a hub for fishing reflecting their iconic coat of arms that feature three herrings. Its importance in historic Welsh culture encouraged King Edward I of England to select the town as a host for the celebratory jousting tournament that marked his conquest in 1284.
Nowadays, Nefyn is more of a peaceful setting, with large sweeping crescent-shaped coastlines with crystal-clear waters and an attractive harbour at the western end of the town. The coastal path that winds along the curved coastline stretches out in both directions out of the town and offers wanderers the chance for some spectacular coastal views. Whilst in-land, there is a mini-market with a range of essentials, such as the post office, eateries and bank. There is also a fantastic golf course to while away the hours, with stunning coastal views that could very well put you off your game!
