Shells apartment is situated in Dinas Dinlle, a small coastal village south-west of Caernarfon at the mouth of the Menai Strait. It has a large sand and pebble Blue Flag beach, Morfa Dinlle with far-reaching views towards Y Eifl mountains on the Llyn Peninsula and Llanddwyn Island on Anglesey opposite. The foreshore, just a few steps from your door, consists of natural pebble banks, ideal for stone painting and guests are encouraged to do so; and with vast areas of sand, this makes Sands an ideal location for a romantic break or family holidays.
This area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the land is managed by the RSPB as a Local Nature Reserve; so is an ideal habitat for nesting lapwings and many other bird species.
The cliff above the beach has an Iron Age hillfort, Dinas Dinlle; eroded by the sea, only a double semi-circular rampart remains. It's a great little walk to the top and the rewarding views are well worth the short but sweet climb.
There are a few cafe's and a Fish and Chip shop within walking distance and there is hope that the community pub will open soon just up the road.
Exploring nearby Caernarfon you can visit the historic Caernarfon Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or take a leisurely stroll around the Waterside 'Doc Fictoria' with its colourful shops, restaurants, cinema and arts centre.
Other nearby attractions include Greenwood Forest Park, Electric Mountain and the Air World Aviation Museum. You can take a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway or the Snowdon Mountain Railway. This beautiful area has plenty of wonderful walks, and is great for sea fishing, watching wildlife and exploring Snowdonia National Park.
Zip World, Bounce Below, Llechwedd and Forest Coaster are a short drive away.
All in all, this really is a wonderful base from which to explore this magnificent part of the country.
